In game one, Gregg nor her Madison teammates, including my dd, were as sharp as they could have been. Weddington led off with 3 straight walks and following a misplayed ball by my dd, led 3-0. The final was 11-0 after errors by almost everyone on Madison's team. I don't have the box scores but my dd did finish 2-3.
In game two, vs. Watauga, Watauga's leadoff hitter gained a walk and then scored on 3 passed balls/wild pitches. Watauga never got a hit. That was their only run. With the bases loaded and Madison trailing 1-0, Watauga's pitcher got a critical strikeout to end the inning. Again my dd went 2-3. The Madison team after settling down from game one, held their own in game 2.
I would like to offer a special note of thanks to Freedom High School for being such fine hosts and to all the competition for showing up, in less than ideal conditions, to make for a fun day of softball. Although I don't think we really showed what we had, we learned.
Sorry that i didn't have the tally books to tell you exactly.
    Thanks again!

    Guru,

I don't have the book, but i do know that there were at least five, spread out. Only one truly "extra base hit". The final was 11-0 and I think 4 were earned. We just got beat. Best I can say it.

    Freedom --- 6
    East Gaston--0

    Hasson (5-0) 9 k's, 3 hits allowed
EG made some errors early to allow Freedom to 3 runs, but Freedom also had 2 or 3 hits in the inning. Primm is a very good pitcher! We hit the ball hard most of the day. EG, never got thier bats on track.

Great day of cold softball, thanks to all the teams who came out and all the fans that braved the weather. CF, nice meeting you and thanks for coming!

Obsevations, South looked good against Wilkes Central
Weddington was impressive, as was Gregg(very good). She missed some spots and the defense made some mistakes. Weddington did hit it good though- take nothing away from them.
West Wilkes was very impressive against Primm and EG.
Didn't see much of the Watauga and Madison game, good pitchers duel with Gregg and Reilly.
Crest hit the ball very well and looked good.
I was pleased with our hitting against a top quality pitcher in Primm.

    Thanks for a good day!

Not to get off the subject here but is it just me or are the majority of the teams really down this year. My daughter plays for South Caldwell and I have to say that every team we have played this year except for Watagua and St. Stephens have been terrible. I know we're not real strong this year but the others we have played East Burke, Wilkes, WC, Hibriten, Hickory were terrible. Is it that intrest is fading or have WE just played some weak teams.

cold for sure but that HS softball and definitely effects Pitching.

Freedom was aggressive and played softball(well coached)!

Coach, nice meeting you and thanks for the hospitality you extended to many today! great venue and contiune your work in progress!!!

Ali Ford is an athlete and enjoyed watching her Hit.....EG only hit one her way and that was late in the game.

Primm and Hasson pitched well.. considering.

SBMOM: WC, Hickory and prolly a few others on the schedule may not put much on the table but hopefully you get down south some to play a few quality teams! seek help individually if not. jmo.

best of luck Freedom, EGaston and South Caldwell teams!!!!!!

You can add Christina Melton (Hopewell) to the list. She is back from an injury. She pitched a shutout their last game aganist Waddell, giving up only one hit.
