what are some of the best teams high school or legion to come out of the piedmont

Best teams all time???

Assuming Piedmont includes Charlotte, the best team in the state,

Charlotte Post 9--1965 team won American Legion World Series; team was loaded; had a few future MLB players (Lemond brothers, Gary Hill, Skippy Hull, etc.)

Garinger High School 1964 & 1965 teams- same team as above

Garinger High School 1977 team--Team had 7 players make 1st team all-county that year; included Brick Smith, Brian Little (White Sox 2nd baseman in 80s), Scooter Smith, and several other quality players. 18-1 record, but team was disqualified from playoffs with an ineligible player (guy transferred to start school before his parents moved to Charlotte and lived with a relative, not his legal guardian, which at the time was a violation of NCHSAA rules; Joe T learned of the infraction because the guy was injured and at hospital nobody could locate legal guardian, reported it and was forced to forfeit all games in which he was on roster).

 

Since you mentioned Piedmont, I will use that school's team:


I can't recall all of the players names, but the year Piedmont had Morgan Tyson, Dallas Tarleton and Timmy King was an amazing team. They played undefeated powerhouse West Rowan in the playoffs. WR had one of the best teams in the state..in any classification. They were talented, intimidating and had a cockiness that soread amonst their team.

Here came this little bitty team from Piedmont that no one gave a chance to win....Piedmont left with a 14-0 win....UNBELIEVABLE

 

The team that I remember as one of the top was Myers Park High School who went to the 4-A state championship Robert Woodards senior year. Great leadership and respect for the game from everyone on that team. Enjoyed playing against those guys too, really made me realize how special that team really was from every aspect of the game. Pitching, hitting, fielding and running the bases; everything they did was fundamentally sound.

Garinger, Post 9, and Cherryville

Best high school team would have to be the mid-60's Garinger team. Best Legion team would be Post 9, and Cherryville during the Ralph Roberts era.

 

I guess im just getting like my old man now and checking the board every time I get a chance, in class ive noticed is the best time though
