While SCMOM. Central-d and Reporter, have had quite a bit to say about how bad things are at SC and what a terrible job that the coaching staff is doing, girls quitting team, girls not coming out and all this because of the present coach.
What they are not saying is, the only thing wrong with the Spartans, is the lack of experience pitching, our two young girls that are toeing the rubber, prior to the start of this year, had not thrown not one inning of varsity softball, one of the girls just made the committment to become a pitcher this past summer, and this was because the Coach, would go to her house, pick her up and take her to work out, and the Coach would do this at least four times a week, when basketball tryouts came arouind was when she finally made the committment to become a pitcher.
Our other young lady who pitches, is recovering from surgery that occurred in Sept. but has been slow healing, and is throwing at best at three quarters of her ability. So with experience and maturing as a pitching staff and the addition of a very promising incoming ninth grader next year, we will be much improved
On the subject of girls not coming out and girls quitting, there was only one girl that would have started or played any that did not come out, and that was her choice, what the dectractors have not said, and may not know, that this past season was very painful for her as she has disc problems in her back and there was times that she could only watch at pratice and try to be able to play at game time.
We have had two player leave the varsity, one left before the season started, the young lady had moved into the state, softball had not been played at the level as here and as she was a Sr. knew she could not compete, the other player also a Sr. was a player who was having trouble finding playing time, hate it for her, but it was her choice.
The coach that replaced the person of which all the dectractors speak of, well, he was replaced by a very, very knowledge coach, a man who has actually played fast pitch softball.
I promise you that I have been around athletics longer than all the dectractors , and this season we have had the best practice sessions at SC that I have seen, (and I probally haven't missed ten in the past ten years)

not having experienced pitchers is a killer, i know, have it going on with my hs team this year. it creates more line shots thru the infield, which puts more stress on your infield. more stress, more errors, more parents complaining, etc, etc, etc.

i tell our parents this, we're hoping for this year, but building for next year. some get it, some dont, but our kids never give up, their heads are up high and doing the best they possibly can. our senior players know the score and are doing their best to train the freshmen and keep them focused. my hats off to them for effort above and beyond the call of duty.

point is, coaching from inside the fence is a lot harder than coaching outside the fence. judging a new coach on first year performance is flat wrong. give this coach time to get the feeling of her team and some rythm going.

nctiger; With all you said I guess that is why all the players and parents are so happy this year!! LOL Neither one of our pitchers just stared this summer Both our pitchers have been pitching for several years and are doing fine so don't blame them. Lots od teams would like to have either of our pitchers. The reason we are losing is not because of the players. I want you to know I think Mike is a good coach and Rick was too but they are only assistants and can only do what they are allowed to do. The head coach runs the team

hey sbmom, all i have to say is stop talking trash about our coaches. i play ball for them and i will say that each of them care alot about both the players and the game. i'm not trying to talk bad about our pitchers, because both of them are my friends, but i will say they know that they both are not the best they can be. they have seen their stats, and when you have more balls than strikes and walks than strike outs, then something is wrong. they both work on pitching at practice and work hard. everyone has thier limits and both of them are trying to go beyond theirs, but its hard. every team will have its rebuilding seasons, and this may be ours. please if you don't have anything nice to say about us(the team and coaches) then don't say it at all. and one other thing, i know its not all the pitchers fault. we(the players) have made our mistakes. and no its not the coaches fault that we drop balls and make wide throws. we do have very hard practices and work on everything. if you don't believe me then come to some and watch. so please stop the trash talking.:arge:

i wish that i could pm this, but you've made that impossible. i think that when it reaches the point that a player from your own team asks you to stop insulting the very coaches of her team, it's time for you to stop. yes, you're entitled to your opinion, and you've made your point, but temper this with the knowledge that your players are reading this forum. i ask that you no longer make any negative comments about the coaching or team, only the positive things. i also ask that you and the others who have posted, not carry on this discussion about sc on this thread anymore, for the girls sake.
