I agree we are spoiled as Spartan fans. You get to the point you expect to see a shutout every game and to win by the 10 run rule. During South's previous 8 games they had allowed only 1 run and scored 83 runs I believe. Games like this make you feel fortunate to win by 1. Also when you are ranked #3 in the Nation in the Bbaseball America Poll as well as Easton Sports Poll you have the pressure of trying to win in convincing fashion every game out. This game was good for South because come playoff time we need to learn how to win close games and the national rankings will take care of themselves (although it is frustrating we have to be ranked in the same polls as Prep schools ... doesn't seem quite fair to me).

YOU are right its not fair but couldnt we improve our nonconference schedule i mean lets not be afraid to travel somewhere to play a topnotch team and is Charlotte Christian considered a prep school. In the BB AMERICA poll there are ranked teams in virginia and s. carolina. Lets go play.:hurray:

hey this is baseball i dont care how good you are you are going to have close games and probably loose one or two along the way. play hard, do the best you can and let the chips fall where they may. i just hope we play to win and dont get caught up in the trying not to loose mindset. congraulations so far and keep playing to win.

Justin Poovey has a nerve injury and he will have to have surgery based on his response a while ago and is lost for the season. I hated to hear this news. At this point that leaves us with 3 pitchers who remain that have pitched this year. I'm thinking we may need to bring up a pitcher from the JV team as backup or start letting Josh Severt pitch in games where we have a comfortable lead to get him some game time experience. Josh is left handed and pitched some for the Post 29 American Legion team last summer and he was pretty effective.

    Hats off to E. Burke

There are ups and downs to every season, but I for one do not like excuses.

I would like to commend East Burke on their discipline and approach at the plate last night, as well as their energy and hustle in the field. Also their lefty did a nice job on the mound. So I tip my hat to them for a good game.

I would also like to state that if they played with that same intensity and focus every game as they did last night, they would not be in last place.

Intense is a great description - great game by both teams - umpires were a little "entertaining" to say the least.....tossed both the JV and V ACR coaches....

    WP: Paeplow - 3 IP (Relief/OT), 1 H, 8 K's, 1 BB, 1 HP
    Start: Runion - 5 IP, 8 H, 8 K's, 2 BB, 1 HP
    LP: Harrington - 1 IP (Rel for James), 1 H, 1 K, 2 BB, 1 HP
(Note: Harrington took a nasty pitch in the left arm in his 1st AB and was out of the game til the end - hope he's okay)

    ACR:
    Hinson: 3-3, 2B, HR, RBI, 2 BB, 3 runs
Overbey: 3-5, 3 RBI (game winning RBI)
Paeplow: 1-2, RBI, IBB, 2 HP
    Towery: 1-4
    Radford: 1-4, 2B, run
    Haley: 2 runs, HP, BB
Jeffords: sac bunt that put winning run in position to score

    AC:
Hall: 2-4, 2B, RBI, BB, run
    Ford: 2-5, 2B, RBI
    James: BB, run
    Milsap: 1-3, BB
    Sherrill: 1-4, 2B, run
    Russell: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 runs
    Caudill: 1-4

Hats off to both teams for an exciting, well-played game...
