I disagree-our daughter played travel ball for 7 years for some of the better teams in the state. The games could not compare to our high school games. Some travel ball games were exciting but to tell the truth, most were boring. It was more of a job for her to play travel ball and more fun with the high school. It all worked out for her though now that she is playing in college. The most exciting games I have ever watched were the 2004 3A state championship games between Enka and Southern Alamance. Enka had lost a game earlier in the day but worked their way back. Their first game against S Alamance went 10 innings with Enka taking the win. That resulted in a tie-breaker that again went 10 innings. S Alamance took the trophy. Brooke Isley was on the mound for S Alamance and Sarah Soesbee for Enka.
Those are 2 games that I will never forget. High school games for me are special, travel ball just all runs together.

    All I Can Say----

All I can say I wish that my DD went to your high school, because ours is hit and run...I don't know how old you are,but back when I was a kid there was a baseball pinball machine that pitched to you,and you had to move the levers to strike the ball when you hit the ball if you went up the ramp, and hit the target it was a homerun, and the machine would cheer as the metal runner would run around the bases...well that's about what our games have been except for one...hit and run sooooooo boring...but TB has been exciting and fulfilling whenever we played...JMO

 I'm old enough to remember those, too.
    25 runs wins a prize.

put some of your best hs teams in a state tb tournament and i dought if you see any of them on sunday. I guess i just think that games played with all very tallented players are better games to watch. I know if you make it to the state all those games will be exciting because of the hs excitment, although when you watch a tb tournament your watching teams with all very talented players the level of ball makes it more exciting

    TB Gals

The schools who make it to Raleigh, feature more TB gals in lineup, with the exception of a few.The game is so fast it's hard to keep up unless you play TB. This is what makes TB ball sooooooooooo much more exciting. 1 hiccup will cost you a game. The short game is more critical, cause 1 run may be all it takes, so you better get 1 early. Also coaching is tougher cause you have a time limit to deal with, & not the luxury of 7 inns, so manufacturing runs comes into play .You take more losses, but you brush it off, & get ready for next game.
Before Beachmom makes me aware that N. Pitt won without a big group of TB gals, riding Faith Sutton's arm,my pick for 2a championship will be N. Pitt-Central Davidson with Chelsea Leonard on the mound. This will be an awesome matchup. Better look out for Miss Chelsea !!!!

    High School Ball

I agree completely EnkaMom12. I think every fan in the complex came over to watch those games. IMO high school games are much more exciting.

    ask the players

wonder if you ask the plyaers, what do they say?
girls that have say won HS state championships and also won some of the major TB championships.
which is a better memory to take with them in their lives?

and it may be difficult to actually have a matchup of a state champion HS team vs. a top TB team because some players may be on both teams! and this type of game would not be allowed.

Guru, I agree with you on travel ball. My DD was the second baseman on the 2004 Enka team but other than one game against Reynolds and Pisgah (which the pitchers for both reynolds and pisgah were on our traveling team) the regular season was boring. Starting with the second round of the playoffs right on through to the final game against southern alamance did it get interesting,it was boring due to lack of competition. I guess if you like winning by large margins then hs ball in the mountains is your game. I love hs ball but my DD will always talk about the great tournaments and teams we played in travel ball.
