Here's a link to results from this tournament in Wilmington. Looks like it was a good one. Butler and Hopewell were in it in addition to Wilmington Schools, Ashley, Laney, Hoggard, and New Hanover, along with East Wake and Northwest Guilford.

Incidentally, Caleb Long, who is mentioned in the article played this fall with the Copperhead Red team. Outstanding young player.

Okay..let me see if I got this right. Most of the Easter Tournaments are named after former coaches, towns, BBQ joints and a newspaper place...but nooooo...this one is named after a Yacht Club!!!!

This one must be good...sure are a lot of good teams playing in it. I wonder if the Championship team gets a free yacht?

Butler wins championship 5-0 over hometown favorite, Ashley High.....Butler continues to play good ball.....nice win against a very good team....Brandon Oatis pitched a gem for the victory and Andrew Smith and Matt Crump hit HR's for Butler......They don't make many mistakes...Solid pitching, timely hitting and good defense...13-1 on the season right now...

Hopewell places 3rd with a 3 run walkoff HR from Michael Vaughn in the bottom of the 7th to come from behind and beat East Wake 9-7......

yea Butler beat us in the first round they are solid that number 15 can really move around the basepass

as for the quality of the tournament its padded
Ashley give the Wilmington teams the toughest teams and they take the easiest ones (last year i think they played Dixon in the first round) they dont throw their ace until the final round wheras the other team has gone through most of their pitching i was glad to see Butler beat Ashley in the final round

Actually, just to let you know...Our ace threw the first round game this year against a scrappy Northwest Guilford team who had only lost one game coming into the tourney, recently defeating the #2 - 3a team in the state. Our #2 pitcher threw the 2nd game shutting out a very strong Hopewell team from Huntersville. Im glad to say we were able to come away with that win. As far as padding the tournement? For one its Ashley's tournement and they'll start out with whoever they want. Butler - They're #2 in the state, one loss...Ashley, #8 in the state. New Hanover is #9 in the state. Hopewell is a playoff caliber team, no doubt. Laney is extremely young with good talent on the way, as is Hoggard. Hopewell defeated a very good, playoff caliber East Wake team on a walk off 3-run HR. If I remember correctly, NEW HANOVER, needed a game winning homerun from George Bryan in the 6th inning and Mincey to save ya'll from our FIRST round opponent (NWG) who Ashley waxed 13-3. Padded tournement? I really dont think so. I'm not a big Andy Partin or Impact fan, but he thought enough talent was at the tournement to come watch...

Congrats Butler, ya'll deserved the Championship. Good Hitting, Good Pitching, Good Coaching...a quality team through and through. Hope to see you guys down the road...

yea good talent Butler looked good but we could have won that game without Brad we threw 3 pitchers and both could have closed it out as for Ashley theyre good, really good and no doubt that them and Butler deserved to be in the championship game

Then why bring in brad after he threw 7 innings the day before.? Why not let the "other" guys close it out. I think your coach thought otherwise...
