How good is this team this year? I've seen their stats etc. Looks like a very good game for this evening in shelby. how do you guys think they will match up with SC?

ER is a very good team. Well coached and some good players. As far as tonight though they haven't faced anything like they will tonight in Bumgarner. SC hit the ball really well last night and if that continues I don't think ER will have the firepower to keep up. Could be a good game though. Another thing is there are usually several scouts at the games when Bumgarner pitches. The SC boys have gotten used to it but if the opponets haven't been exposed to this they sometimes get out of their game a little trying to impress the scouts. It is hard for high school boys to overcome this

    Should be a good game.

ER has some great players. And I dont think those guys are going to worried about impressing the scouts they have already been there done that. They have two D-1 signed pitchers and another that is on his way. Plus they have several other stud players that will play at the next level. They will not be intimidated and they will not be overwhelmed at the plate. Madison is the real deal but several of these guys have faced top tier pitching many times. ER is my favorite to win the 2-A title and SC is the 4-A favorite. If ER was in the 3-A ranks they would be my 3-A pick. This should be an outstanding game. SC is loaded not only on the hill but in the field as well. I think SC wins it but I think it will be very competitive. I would not be shocked if ER finds a way to win it though. Two outstanding teams in this one.

saw where they have about six guys batting .400 and better. WOW, and their ERA's look very good as well. How does their competition stack up?

Since ER has already had the pro scouts around they will probablly be able to overlook that. They seem to have the talent to win and hopefully will be a fun game to watch. Like Caldwell County, Rutherford County always has a bunch of very good baseball players

    ER

Im not sure about the competition they have played this year but it doesnt matter to me. Ryan Leach UNC, Tyler Smith UNCW, Cullen Park and a couple of more guys on the hill is good against anyone. And they have some serious sticks outside of those guys who can really hit. They are just a very very good baseball team and very talented. They can play with anyone. Seth Baldwin is a very dangerous hitter. Leads the state right now in HR's and can flat out hit. Ive been fortunate to see these guys in the summer and fall and they can play. Again, SC has a great team and ridiculous pitching. But ER can play with anyone. It should be a very good game. I wish I could see it.

they struggled last week (3 hits, no runs in 7 innings) against north davidson's lefty Zach White

    ER and SC

ER is legit. I give them a good chance tonight with Leach on the mound. Baldwin vs Bumgarner should be exciting, power against power. I don't think ER will be intimidated in the least.

White and Bumgarner are 2 very different types of lefties. White will throw any pitch (CB, Slider, FB, CU) in any count, while I see Bumgarner as a power fastball challenge any count. Let it be known though that I would take either one in a rotation and be thrilled.

I would love to be at this game, the amount of talent that will be on the field at one time in a HS baseball game will be a treat.

    Good luck to both teams.

    True

Im not sure how they will handle Madison either. I dont anyone is going to handle him all year. But they do have pitching as well. And they do have some guys that are capable of hitting that level of pitching. If they can scratch a couple and get a great performance from one of their very capable pitchers anything can happen. It almost happened in the St Stephens game with PJ on the hill. I do feel that ER is better offensively than St Stephens top to bottom. As far as how they did against Zach White he has been doing that to people all year long. He is capable of making anyone look bad when he is on. Like I previously posted SC has to be the favorite in this one not only because they have Madison but because they have a very talented team as well. But dont be surprised if this one is a nail biter because ER is loaded and they will be ready for the challenge.

One thing everyone is forgetting to mention is how good SC,s hitters are. They don't have a couple good hitters they have a team of good hitters especially their first 7. Everyone of the first 7 have hit at least one homerun this year and any of them could go 4 for 4 on any night. Though not loaded with speed they do have great speed in spots. Add that and great defense all around and you have a pretty good team not just goood pitching
