The only thing hurting this team at this point is this thread. Hopefully the players aern't reading it but if they are this is doing the most harm. These guys are playing in a tough conference. Most of their pitching graduated last year but they are still a very good competitive team with a bunch of first class young men in Doster, Shueys, Maxton, Barton just to name a few. Give them a break. They are neck and neck with AK, Meyers Park, Ind etc and I don't see the other programs getting bashed like this. The coach may or maynot be worth a hoot but these kids are. Give them some support. Will they win it all - probably not but neither win a bunch of others.

If you watched the game on Friday, you realize this coach has got to go. He was running, got 4-5 picked off, while down three runs. To top it off, in the sixth, down three, gets first batter on, tries stealing, again, and gets caught. Next batter, another hit. Yes the players hit, run and pitch, but knowing that every move that this coach makes is wrong, does more to harm them than their being in a slump. These are smart players. i am sure the seniors are looking forward to playing legon ball or showcase this summer, it will probably be fun for them to play real baseball again.
To top of these kids night, one of the SM parents got kicked out by Dave Collins for telling him he owed the seniors an apology for hiring this coach. I saw him on the way out, as i came through the gate, he was being escorted by a police officer. Other parents in the stands who were sitted next to him said he did nothing wrong other than voice his displeasure for the coach and Collins, no profanity, no threats, just the above comments. Must have hit a nerve with Dave, he knows he has screwed this program. For all of you SM fans, I will make sure that i get involved and get a coach that can coach baseball. You may not like me or my comments, but i do get it, it is not about this year or last year, or next, itis about the overall life of the program.

    CMS is not on board!

I feel your pain Honker! I follow the SW4A teams pretty closely. Yes, I saw this coming but that's not the point of my post. That train has left the station.

What you fail to realize is that Mr. Collins, Mrs. Yates and the folks downtown at CMS simply DO NOT CARE if your program is 1st or Last (or anywhere in between) in the SW4A. They have no background in Baseball and no passion for the outcome.

The only types of things that make their radar screen are the things that require them to fill out a form, answer questions or involve the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. Other than those things they are basically indifferent.

Things like what happened with IHS recently, matter way more to them than whether or not your coach knows when to steal a base and when to play it safe. They simply DO NOT CARE! I hate it for you, but unless your new coach fails to "go by the CMS book" he will be there indefinitely. No amount of booster club upheavel will make a difference at any of these CMS schools. It's just that simple.

This isn't Rockingham or Hickory where the passion for High School sports runs deep. This is CMS! The 2nd largest school system in the Country with 129,000+ students! They don't have time to worry about whether or not your coach is a good one. They've literally got thousands of children in their system that do not even speak English and thousands upon thousands more that cannot afford to pay for their own lunch. Where does "Quality Baseball Coaching" rank on their list? Not very high, I can tell you that.

I've watched a football coach at a SW4A school (located off Hwy 51) get outcoached and cost his boys several games over the last few seasons. The boosters there want him gone but he'll be there until he decides to quit. He had TWO big wins vs. Independence "in the bag" and let them both get away, including letting a 28-0 lead evaporate! Baseball is no different and maybe even less of a concern because it is less visible.

Hopefully your Coach will learn from his mistakes and become a better Coach. One can only hope.
