From what I know, you're allowed to schedule 23 games plus an endowment game to make 24. I don't think this counts conference tourneys, and I know it doesn't count playoffs. Also, scrimmages early don't count until you play a real game, I think? Somebody who knows more, please provide us with the details.

If a coach is serious about ball, then they will schedule the maximum amount of games. You don't get penalized for scheduling tough non-conference games either, so it's best to play other good teams from around the state. If a coach doesn't care to give their team a full schedule, then it seems they just don't care.

By the way, I think there was an earlier post about the number of games in Tennessee? They don't have a limit? Georgia plays high school in the fall, so they are already playing travel tournaments in the spring. That seems like it would be a good idea?

Tennesse has a limit, I just can't remember off the top of my head what it is. I do know they are allowed a maximum of 5 tournaments. Each tournament counts as 4 games regardless of how many you play. If they play 4 pool games and 4 games in the tournament bracket for a total of 8, it still counts as four. We have to get our rules changed to allow for tournament play, then you'd see some big tournaments in NC.

    You are correct!

Allowed two pre-season scrimmages. No scrimmages are allowed once you have played your first regular season game.

23 regular season games, 24 if an Endowment game is played.
Conference tournaments are part of the post season and don't count against the regular season limit.

Playoffs are considered post season and each team can play as many as it takes to reach and win in Raleigh. (Determined by NCHSAA)

4 contests a week during the regular season, not to exceed 3 days, unless played on a Saturday. No contest on Sunday.

All players, JV and Varsity are under weekly and seasonal limits of 4/ 23 or 24.

Looking at the Memphis Tn. paper, there are several teams in the city or surronding area that have already played any where from 31 to 35 games, and still have a couple weeks left on schedule.
Last year most of the teams that made it to the state playoffs played over 50 games .
To me, the number of games allowed in NC is the #1 rule that needs changing, but of course NC was one of the last states to go fast pitch.....
