I didn't get to attend the game but someone just called me from the game. Sounds like South had the game well in hand and Dustin Harrington almost single handily beat them hitting 2 home runs (1 of them a grand slam in the top of the 7th inning). Jimmy Messer pitched well leaving after 6 complete innings and an 8 to 1 lead. Messer was relieved by Zack Brown who evidently had a difficult outing. They had to turn to Madison Bumgarner to get the final out of the game. Sorry I have so few details ... I'll post more later and clear up some confusion. South ends up winning the NW4A regular season outright and will have a bye in the 1st round of the conference tourney.

SC almost let one slip away tonight. 8-1 lead going into 7th inning. Messer lifted for Brown for senoir night which I totally agree with. Brown has done a great job all year but his first pitch tonight was hit out of the park. I think that may have hurt his confidence and he tried to be to perfect after that. Had a walk and fell behind on the hitters. With bases loaded and the score 8-3 Parham called time and went to the mound with Bumgarner warming up and Harrington coming to bat. Decides to leave Brown in and first pitch is a grand slam. 8-7 Bumgarner comes in and strikes out the last batter to end the game. On a side note Clawson called out at home on a terrible call and jumps up argueing the call and is imediately thrown out of the game. Bad thing is he will now have to sit out the next game in the tourney. Home plate ump tonight must have had a kid on AC's team. He made some bad calls. On one play that would have ended the 7th inning SC turned a double play the infield up was between 1st and 2nd had a good look at the play and called both out SC leaves the field and the home plate ump who was still behind the plate changes the call at first to safe. Still we won so it was a good night
Want to add Brown has had a great year and been very valuable to SC this year. Anyone can have an off night

Daw pitched 3 batters into in the sixth. 5Ks. Dykotsa Spiess relieved and got the save. Big Senior night for Attaway and Daw. Attaway goes 2-3 with a double and Daw gets the win on the mound and hits a game winning Grand Slam.
Great night for a couple of guys that have paid their dues and don't get alot of attention.
Rhoney went 5 and McDaniels struck out 3 in the sixth.
Brandon Scott had to be NW4A COY
    Congratulation Patriots.

Just a footnote about the SC game last night. Shane was only disqualified from the game which means he can still play the next game. In his defense it was a terrible call that he got along with several others.

    QUIT CRYING

The call at the plate was not that bad and if it was, why would a kid get tossed in a 6-1 game with the conference tourney coming up. Just a question. As for the call in the 7th, the first baseman pulled off the bag and the plate ump made the proper call. Rather than being intimidated by Parham and his players who were already on the field like they had won the World Series. Good luck in the playoffs with that 2-man rotation.
