sorry about that i heard wrong... dont know why i was thinking a second... he has shaved about a tenth off but he was running with a pulled hammy... he has also gained some weight muscle wise and gotten more into shape... as for his pounds i was comparing it to last year not since football season... sorry for the mistake but it didnt seem that his lack of speed and size had too much affect on him with ac reynolds in the playoffs... just my point of view

    3 Alexander
    4 Mcdowell
    5 East Burke
    6 Freedom
    7 South Caldwell
New school should not affect Freedom much in football, imo noway East Burke finishes last their jvs won conf 2 years ago and played mostly jrs last year.

Never too early to talk football around these parts...

Reynolds and Watauga are the favorites because they return the most critical pieces of last year's success. Kudos to Watauga for puting together a powerful schedule this year, it will do nothing but help them in the NW4A and the playoffs.

The rest of the conference could pretty much be a coin flip. Alexander Central will miss that big D'Line from last year...Freedom, McDowell, East Burke and South Caldwell could all beat each other on a given night. The wild card to the whole season may be McDowell...as bad (and unlucky) as the Titans were last year they got the best athlete in the conference in Terrance Kincaid, and I still think he's the best running back in this conference since the late 90's when Josh Brown was at Crest (no disrespect to Brietenstein but I don't think he would have done what he did last year if he was playing for McDowell)

What will be interesting for the Titans this year is that they had a pretty good JV group last year that may get thrown into the mix. Infact I've heard that the offensive scheme may be altered some to fit some of these new faces into the mix.

The game where Josh Brown went for 421 yrds and 7 TDs vs Freedom was something to see. He was the National Player of the Week for Gatorade after that game. :biggrina:

If you think for one second that after a final four season and most players coming back including their best that they are going to drop to 5th in conference then you are crazy. Heres my list.

1 - Watauga - Have the best player in the conference in Eric Breitenstein who is also the sturdiest player in the conference. He is a game changer and has proved that he can take down a team almost all by himself. Also return both quarterbacks and are getting an all conference lineman to help Eric thats transferring next year. Comes down to final game vs AC to who wins conference.

2 - AC Reynolds - Very athletic players, fastest RB's in the conference. Football always runs through them. Comes down to final game vs Watauga to who wins conference.

3 - Freedom - Always tough, always athletic... usually pretty big.

4 - Mcdowell - Kincaid will be a big factor in winning them a couple of games also a big team.

5 - Alexander - Gave Watauga a waxing last year at their place, always a tough team to play. Although they will not be the best this year they will be fair to moderate.

6 - East Burke - Will be ok, nothing special

7 - South Caldwell - Not alot there, more of a baseball school.

You may be right about me being crazy, or even about watauga finshed 5th, but you are wrong about your big running back shaving a second off his 40 and gaining 20 or 30 pounds. You are also wrong about beating AC Reynolds; However, I do hope you beat them! When betting always use your mind not your heart!

    1. acr-for all those that forsee a huge dropoff at acr it won't happen.this team will have incredible speed at skill postions will score a ton of points. on defense there could be a breaking in period but the defense will be very good by midseason.
2.watauga good team that is well coached but winning 1 game at acr does not a powerhouse make.
    3. freedom i think will be much better this year.
4.east burke. jv'sd have been solid and maybe it will carry over to varsity
5.south caldwell i kind of like their coach
6.alex central they lost a lot up front but harrington set the tone for them.
    7. mcdowell kincaid will be wasted

so your are saying that watauga's run in the playoffs was just one win? i agree, they are not a powerhouse yet but they won a few more games than just acr give them a little more credit

watauga will be just as good as they where last year.but they may not have as good a record they had last year with davie and shelby coming to boone.but the con champ game will be acr at watauga and if acr does not play with more heart than they did in the playoffs watauga will win again
