    Are we sure that West wild cards come from the East? In the past, the western wild cards in the West brackets have come from the West. Has there been a change this year? Independence regular season record is 12-10 and South is 10-14.

    I beleive Davie County has throwed a kink in the cpc if they beat North Davidson on Monday for the tournament championship they will be a 2 seed.

    I am not saying that, the wild card teams as I know it (and I could be wrong) are the 4A non qualifiers with the best overall records, staring with the highest conference finishers that did not make playoffs (like a #4 team in a conference with 3 automatic spots).

    I thought the wildcards were based on overall records, not just east or west...

    NCHSAA - Playoff Berths

    Once all the automatic berths are determined wildcards if necessary will be determined by looking at the next school in the conference that did not get an automatic berth. Wildcards will be based on overall winning percentrage, not including the conference tournment and will place with geography in mind.

    The first round should start on Fri. May 11. Based on the NCHSAA posting, the wild card will be the team with best record (regardless of East or West???) and it seem unlikely that two teams from the same conference would get a wild card (only the next school in the conference that did not get an automatic bid).

    4A west gets 5 wild cards. 4A east has no wild cards because the eastern bracket is filled completely by the prescribed formula. The wild cards, as far as I know, come from the region they are listed. I do not think the west wild cards will be filled by teams from the east. It is possible for a conference to have more than 1 wild card.
