I would like to know what the qualifications are to be elected to the All conference baseball team? (Pac-6). How do the players get nominated and voted on. Very Confused.

    All Conference

There are others on this board that would know for sure. I think All Conference players are voted upon by the coaches withing the given conference.

    All Conference

The coaches from the conference meet. Each coach nominates a certain number of players from his team. There is a set limit in each conference for total amount of players on the All Conference team. Ours is 20 total spots for All Conference. Players nominated for All Conference that do not get enough votes are usually placed on the Honorable Mention All Conference Team. Coaches can not vote for the players that they nominate. You can not recieve votes if you are not nominated. Usually the coach will list in order which players he feels deserve it the most from his team. Plus they will come in with stats etc to back up their nomination for their player. The top vote getters will recieve All Conference. Again a coach can not vote for his players but he has to be the one that nominates the player from his team.

Usually the teams that finish at the top of the league will get the most AC selections. This stands to reason since the better players are usually on the teams that finish at the top of a league.

    PAC-6 All Conference Criteria

Here is how it is done n the PAC-6:

    We have the following allottments:

    4 Pitchers
    2 Catchers
    8 Infielders
    6 Outfielders
    2 DH/Utility players

Coach nominates who he thinks is deserving, with appropriate stats, etc... Coaches cannot vote for own player.

Players with most votes All Conference (all ties are kept, even if that means having 6 pitchers). PLayers with at least 2 votes are named Honorable Mention.

POY is selected from All Conference List based on Coach's nomination and is on a preferential scale. Coaches may vote for own in POY

    All conference??????

So my understanding is that a player can recieve 1 vote and tie with 5 players and make all conference, but a player with 2 votes could not make all conference if 2 players at the same position recieved 3 votes.Do the stats have to be conference stats or season stats.

Some conferences, such as the CVAC, have a different system in place. Depending on what place each team came in, a certain number of slots are allocated. Each coach brings his list to fill the slots.

The player of the year is done by actual voting.

    Each Conference is different

Our conference takes the top 20 vote getters regardless of posistion they play. Each coach nominates his players and then the coaches vote for 20 players and can not vote for their own players. Coaches present the case for the players he has nominated with Conference stats and overall stats if they want to. I like the pre set limit for where you finish in the conference race we tried to do it but the AD's did not like it.

It takes a minimum of 2 votes to make honorable mention. The top vote getters, including ties are used to fill the allotted spots. It has been that way for the 15 years I have been a part of the PAC-6. Generally speaking, coaches do not nominate players they feel are undeserving from their own teams. We use Conference and overall stats as a comparison. If a coach uses overall stats, he states it, if he uses conference stats, he states it. With 8 coaches in the league. We are open and honest with each other and I believe the most deserving kids make it. There have been situations in the past where a kid doesnt with good stats. I know of a player several years back that was a very good player, with very good stats, but he did not make All-Conference because he had a poor attitude on the field, exhibiting unsportsmanlike conduct and usingt profanity. WE don't want players like that representing the conference. Later in his career, he made it because he matured and showed class on the field. His stts were less impressive that year, but better than in previous years.

Silverado- I get the impression since you pointed out the PAC-6, that you must have a particular concern about a particular situation (like your son???). Contact your coach, ask him. The reason I say that is because if this had been a question regarding All Conference in general, you would not have singled out the PAC-6 in the beginning. PM me if you like, and I will be honest with what I know.

For the PAC-6 they are made between the last regular season game and the state playoffs... We have a meeting to finalize and make official the conf. results and take care of any tie-breaker scenarios. In the past it was between the last regular season game and the Confernce Tournament. In my 15 years in the PAC-6 it has always been done this way.
