You are right, I do know who you are which surprises me that you would word your statements regarding a students choices or opportunities the way you do in a public forum. "Somewhat surprised that Howard would go CC route." Do you know the circumstances surrounding this choice? As you indicated in your response, words can be powerful. Sometimes we have to go the route that is given and pray that we make the best of that opportunity eventhough we may not like that route.

Being a CC route parent, I wish Mr Howard and his family the best! My son has had the opportunity to play for a couple more years after High School and that is what he wanted to do, does he wish it was 4 years, yes but it has also taught him several lessons in life. Now it is up to him to make the best of this level.

I gotta say in the captain's defense that when you talk about a "kid going the juco route" there are certain reasons a kid goes that way.

One major reason is he got overlooked by d1-d3 schools.

A second and very real reason is a kid is a d2 level player and can't afford four years of 25k+ school cost.

A third reason is there is a grade issue.

None of these reasons are negatives. They are just part of the reality of college baseball, especially in this area of the country where there are so many players and schools to chose from.

I think the captain was saying Howard is a solid academic student who should be able to afford the four year schools and is being overlooked by some schools.
