Let's hit the highlights....

I'd like to highlight some things that happened during this game....
1. The 1500+ people crowd was unbelievable. Never seen anything like it at our Butler stadium. Heck...they were hangin over the outfield fence. I think we could have got 3 more people in there!!
2. The length of the line at the concession stand...20 - 30 deep everytime I looked over. Does anyone realize there is usually only a few parents that will volunteer for this duty. Did you thank them when you bought something?
3. The absolute INTENSITY that both teams brought out to this field!! You just knew something was going to happen.
4. The huge numbers of fans that I talked with (both Butler and SC) that DID NOT have a dog in the fight!! A lot of those posting comments here (positive, negative and some that are questionable as to why you say those things!). Heck...its hard to tell who won the game in some of them!!
5. The interesting level of officiating. It has amazed to me this year how many times this has been a factor!! And to some of the fans calling the game from the stands...maybe the angle IS better from over there (you know who you are!!).
6. The MONSTER dinger by Hunter Glass late in the game (there's no quit in this kid!!)!! The 3 (maybe more..I lost count HR's by SC). And here's something interesting...thanks to the PROVIDENCE coach who was standing along the fence in CF that brought the ball to his family!!
7. The number of fans that hung around after the game.
8. The strength of the Bulldogs to not allow SC to 10 run them!!
9. The welcome signs that were hangin on the bleachers that welcomed SC and the Bulldogs! Did you read them?
10. Mickey Brewers 3 for 3 night!!
11. MB on the hill (WOW!!!)!! By my count though, there were only 5 k's. So the dogs did put the ball in play.
12. MINCMI for the live updates!
13. The number of people wishing both teams luck before AND after the game!
14. The hugs and high 5's between both teams after game!
15. And the comment from my son while we were walking up the hill...."these guys are all right!!".
16. The number of Butler alumni that was there and the high 5's given to the players at school the next day.

I could go on and on here!! This is baseball!! If you are true fan you know what I mean and you would have noticed these things!! If you are a true fan and didn't notice these things...then you need to take a deep breath and try again!! Games like this create special memories that live on forever.

That is one one the things that has always impressed me about South Caldwell players - their intensity during the game is second to none but when the game is over they are very gracious kids.

dp....and I can say the same thing for the Butler players!! I have been around them a long time. These are all fine young men and for the most part, it ALL stays on the field!! As players, they know what they did and what it takes to do it. I think there is a mutual respect amongst them.
