After all of the great things posted already, there is very little else to add; so I’ll just say what I give thanks to:

    - Thank you North Davidson for confirming what everybody has said about you. You are a team that is gritty, competitive, full of heart, well-coached and absolutely talented. I believe that Levi Michael is the best shortstop in the state. This young man is outstanding and his future will be exciting to follow.

    - Thank you to the South Caldwell seniors. The memories that you have provided the last 4 years to your supporters are memories that will be discussed for decades. I hope the seniors spent an extra moment last night realizing this was their last opportunity to wear their Spartan uniforms and playing at The Rock….and realizing how special that is.

    - Thank you to all of the South Caldwell supporters for allowing this “city boy” to be a part of your journey. I can not express well enough how proud I am of you and how all of you have touched my life….but I am going to try.

It was last year when I attended the SC vs Ashbrook playoff game that I first sensed the uniqueness of the team and the people that followed them. I continued to watch this same uniqueness with the Caldwell Legion team all the way to the Championship series. I’ll explain that uniqueness later, but I knew there was something special to me about the players and families from Caldwell County.

The people from this area are tough; they have a chip on their shoulder, but these are the type people that will knock you down, pick you up and invite you over for dinner. They are honest, tough-minded, speak their mind, let you know what they stand for and make no excuses for their ways. They are the type people that will take their shirt off their back if you need one; bring food over to your house when you need some and loan you a car when you need one.

If you are their friend they are your friends forever. The uniqueness I described reminded me of something in my younger life…..my home…my town.

I walked through the gates of The Rock yesterday and the first thing I noticed was a sign designed by Mandy and Yo Yo Parham. The sign was as long as the building and it was seen by the over 4,000 people that attended the game. It said, “Welcome to all TBR’ers to The Rock”, but I didn’t read it that way. I read the sign to say, “Welcome home Braves!”

    Thank you

Braves, what a classy post. It is rare that a person from a different area with different teams to cheer for has become such a Spartan and Caldwell County fan. It was a true honor to have you sit among the Bleacher Bums on Sat. night. In the short time I have known you it has become obvious you a true baseball man and a good friend. I value your friendship very much. You will always be welcome in Caldwell County. The only experience you have missed is sitting on the roof with The Bums at a Post 29 game. It tends to be a little different from a high School game. I hope you get that experience this summer. I look forward to seeing you soon. By the way don't leave again without bidding us good-bye. Just kidding.

Glad you made the games Braves. As said try to come see some legion games. We get 2 more innings of fun there. Are you going to the championships game this weekend. I haven't heard for sure where they are this year. Some have said Raliegh but I haven't seen anything offical yet

Enjoyed reading your post about the people in Caldwell County. You really hit the nail on the head. Its amazing you can hit that nail so squarely by attending a few ballgames. God speed Braves....Come watch the 29ers some this summer.

After going to all three games even though I have no connection to South and ND, WOW!!! Great series.

One thing I was impressed with was the number of schools represented at this series that had nothing to do with South or ND. Watauga had 6 people Thursday at South, 2 Friday at ND and 4 Saturday. We talked to fans of East Burke, Alexander Central, East Burke, Davie, and Avery High. Thats pretty awesome. Met great fans of both schools.

If I may add something to what Braves posted,,, he hit the nail on the head about Caldwell folks and THEIR BASEBALL. I hate I haven't been able to attend any of these great high school games, but its only because I've been involved in the baseball in my area. But I can attest personally about the loyalty and PASSION that the Caldwell folks have for the game of baseball. You always know that the Caldwell fans are avidly behind their players and it seems their players are always so talented,,, and THAT IS WHY we in Kannapolis always enjoyed playing the great teams and fans from Caldwell County,,, because its always like we're going against the BEST. Yes, the fans yell LOUD at their games,,,,, but you gotta love how involved they are. And EVERY SINGLE TIME that a Kannapolis Legion team has played the great Caldwell teams, we were always treated with respect,,,,, and Lord knows I hope we always showed respect to them. I know recently we've had some truly great ballgames between our 2 legion programs.

Btw,,,, to North Davidson,,,, GREAT JOB!!! Everybody, including the national polls have been calling this Caldwell's year, and you guys most definitely should be the favorites next year. This great playoff run in 2007 will only help you in 2008.

Sounds like the ND/SC series was truly great baseball, hate I missed it. Especially the part about the porkchop sammitches...

Classy Post TJ21. Caldwell County also has great respect for Kannapolis as well. Year in and year out you can count on them having ball players that are extremely talented and well coached. I had an opportunity to meet some of the Kannapolis fans last year in Thomasville and they are very classy.

It was great to see Kyle Seager come up with a huge hit yesterday for my Tar Heels. He seems to be playing great now and I wish him the best as they get ready for the playoffs.
