You may have misunderstood, because we agree with each other. I would like to see more coverage.

During a previous season, our local TV station covered the playoffs because a local school was involved - including video and interviews. I live in a smaller market than Charlotte and maybe they(wbtv) have too many people to serve - but I can't speak for them - to go hunting for local stories.

If they will cover girls sports with a simple call to them with details or maybe an email, then the coach, delegated parent, or school official should send them the info with pictures. It doesnt seem too hard. Like I said, I understand all too well about a sport that gets ZERO coverage even with a call or email.

I hate to burst your(or anybody else's) bubble, but not nearly enough people care about softball to justify sending a crew(probably the only crew the sports department has that day) three hours away to cover a game. That's not my opinion, that's reality. Sports gets about three minutes a night in these parts and there's no way they can devote those resources to something that only a handful of people care about, no matter how passionately those people care about it.

    You aren't busting my bubble...

You aren't busting my bubble! But again I will reply, they cover every football highlight from here to tim-Buck-to, football and softball seasons are the same! They could use the same time to cover the softball as they do the football or baseball. I am just saying that it could be done if they wanted to. I am saying that all other sports could get some attention not just softball.

Most of the time there is a varsity softball game and a varsity baseball game going on at the same time same place. They could send someone and cover both.

Guys I started this thread so you know I'm for the media coverage. But be realistic. They can't cover baseball and softball on a regular basis. All I was complaining about was the STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. I would think these would be a big headline story as it only comes once a year. They are not going to cover these sports every 3 days of the regular season that would not be feasable. But when it comes to the finals they should be all over that

They cover football every week and have video of a lot of games and have a 1/2 hour show devoted to it. They don't need to cover everything but maybe once a week pick a school and do a little story on it.

But then again if it's not football it's not a sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Shared Resources

What ever happened to stations sharing stories with affiliates?

Why can't a Raleigh NBC station cover the playoffs and share the story with the Charlotte/Asheville NBC affiliates?

Half of the stations probably have the same ownership anyway.

    One would think...

One would think that if us (Joe Public) could come up with all these ideas, a few of the people at the tv stations, being as they are in the business and all, could come up with a way TO IMPROVE ON HOW THEY DO THEIR JOBS!

    After Thought...

You know here is an IDEA, maybe we should start a Girls Sports TV station! All Girls Sports All The Time ONLY GIRLS! Surely there is some millionaire out there, bord with spending their money on the same old things! That millionaire could back the station and TBR members could rotate being the reporters! Then GIRL'S Sports would finally get the ATTENTION that it deserves! What do you TBR members say?
    Who knows the millionaire?
Who will volunteer to call and ask this millionaire? Heck, I'll volunteer!!!

Fox WGHP (Greensboro/High Point) and NBC WXII (Winston Salem) were at Walnut Creek on Saturday covering the finals.

Evidently they felt softball WAS newsworthy.

The Central Davidson/South Brunswick game was broadcast live on the Lexington radio station.
