While we're on the bad call thing, I found it interesting that the announcers made a point to say that Coach Graham thought that Savery rolled his wrists too much when hitting. This caused him to hit a lot of ground balls, and choppers. They mentioned this in both of the last two games with UNC. But, alas, the bad call by the ump took the bat out of the home run hitter's hands.

    wow

listening to some of you guys whine you would think Fedex was set up in the dugout when he caught that pitch. It was outside but not that outside. It basically painted the line of the batters box (on a pitch that was tailing off as it got to the plate) and that batters box was a few inches off the plate.

Nice job by ESPN and the idiots in the booth with the telestrator. that one angle from right side of the mound was ridiculous and was no indication of where the pitch really was in relation to the plate.

Besides the ump has been calling that outside ball a strike ALL SERIES. They were complaining about it several nights ago.

Savery couldn't have fouled that pitch off? BS - he never even thought about lifting the bat off his shoulder.

Rice was tight as a drum in both games and the SS Friday's play and Graham switching pitchers before he needed to were two good examples. Carolina played like they had nothing to lose while Rice played like the weight of the world was on their shoulders.

Good job Heels and bring it home this year.

    Amen Wossa

Big Duke fan here but you are right, the people on here are exaggerating everything. That pitch wasnt a strike and it was a bad call but it's not like it was a season-changing call or cost Rice a spot in the national championship.

I'm pulling for the Heels too as crazy as that sounds simply because I'm a North Carolina high school baseball player and I repsect the fact that nearly every key Tarheel played high school ball here in our state.

This is coming from someone who really hates Carolina, too.

Almost as much as I hate Ragsdale, Wossa :laugh3: Haha just kidding. I actually respect Ragsdale just like I respect the heels

    I play at Southwest Guilford.

Yea..thats typical ESPN they always blow things up to be bigger than they actually are just to have a story...the fact the kid didn't swing on a 2 strike pitch that was very close to the plate was his fault..plus did they really expect to get 3 runs off carrigan? The guy has been lights out and hasn't given up a ER all tourney i think..anyways the 3 meetings between the 2 seemed very one sided and for the 2nd year in a row exposed the fact that Rice has no killer instict and close the deal when up 1-0...Go Heels.

Haha heels, that lefty would be me, Jeremy Hall

I dont appreciate the little shot you threw in there though, "skinny lefty," gee thanks. And I wouldn't quite call it a Ryan Howard bomb haha, but it was timely and effective.

But yes that was a great game, real close just like last year when Ragsdale came out on top.

Anyways, back to the tarheels....I heard Alex White is getting the start tomorrow. I think thats a good move by coach fox I bet he'll come up big

    last pitch-white

Carignan does a great job exploiting the outside corner with every pitch and hes so consistently there he gets alot of calls off the plate. With him you know exactly what you are going to get a fastball down and away at about 92-94, he goes out there and says here it is hit if you can, and most people can't and that included Joe Savery who was behind every single fastball he had thrown in that at-bat. Its tough to hit...trust me. As far as Alex White goes I heard a comparence the other day that I really thought fit. I heard someone and I cant remember who compare him to a young Jake Peavy, and his wind-up and fastball really do look a lot like it. I wonder if the big slow breaker that Peavy throws might be an affective addition to Whites arsenal.
