USA Baseball Junior Olympics

    Wow...this is getting down to the nitty gritty. Texas Sticks were runners up to East Cobb Braves at the PGWWBA in Jupiter last fall. Florida Bombers are always one of the premiere teams in the country. They recruit their kids from everwhere in the country.

    Orlando has some major studs on their team. And think about this: SCP is playing without two of their premiere pitchers, Bard and Wood.

    Congratulations needs to go out to Shaffer, Miller and Batts for being invited to tryout for the USA Junior Olympic team.

    SCP advances to the round of 16 to face #5 seed Orlando Baseball Academy.

    SC Panthers Richie Shaffer (09 Providence HS); Tyler Miller (09 Ft. Mill HS) and Mat Batts (09 Mt. Tabor HS) were each selected tonight as 3 of 18 players from the 72 team USA Junior Olympic Tournament East to participate in try outs for the USA 16U team that will play in the 16U International Championships in August in Venezuela. They will join 18 players selected this week from the 72 team JO - West event in Arizona for final try outs in early August.
    SC Panther Tyler Zupcic (09 Weddington HS) was selected along with the three above earlier in the week as a finalist.

    I don't think people realize how competitive this tournament is. These are most of the elite teams across the nation. There are some absolutely stud teams in this event. To know that both teams representing NC are in the final 8 brings unbelievable recognition to our area.

    SCP win elite 8 game to make final 4 and lose to Palm Beach PAL 7-4 in final four. Tie for Bronze Medal.
