He is going to ECU. Seth made a personal decision to get his release and NC State allowed him to do so. Thats all anyone needs to know unless Seth wants to come on here and give the details.

Seth is a great young man. He is a warrior on the baseball field and one of the best team mates you could ask for. Seth took the ball in game #1 at East Cobb for the Dirtbags and was outstanding. 89-92 on the stalker and flat out filthy. He went four innings gave up one hit and just dominated a very good baseball team from Indiana. He was the talk of the complex after the game because of his (ability to pitch) and his outstanding stuff (nasty slider) and outstanding fastball with movement. I had several D-1 coaches approach me and ask me where he was going to school. The next day Seth was begging for the ball again in a close game. The kid wants to win. He wants the ball in his hand. ECU got a great one when they picked up Seth Simmons. The reason he is at ECU and not NC State is not important thats between Seth and NC State. The fact is when you talk about Seth the focus should be on how good he is and what a great kid he is and not the rumors about where he is going. I can tell you this ECU is very happy to be getting him. And they should be.

Thanks Coach enough said your the man. Tell Jeff I said hit another one on the free way for me. All that I really want to say about the NCSU situation is that it was very unfortunate and that by a bad situation I mean for me it was bad. Not for NC State they did what they thought was best for them. And I have done what is best for me. That is all that needs to be said. So for everyone out there that has asked me and wants to know. I left NC State I was given a choice to come there, go to JUCO and come back, or go else where. I left with the best intrest for me and my family. I appreciate all the concerns from the people on this board and good luck to all the future prospects make your decision carefully.

He did pitch well last week and has pitched well for the Dirtbags for some time. The Dirtbag coaches speak highly of him. I think they also trusted him with the ball last year in a World Series final. While there are other factors that came in to play as to his change which I'll not post, it is working out best for everyone. At the same time some here should realize that there are two sides to all situations. Seth should do well at ecu. ECU has a quality, enthusiastic baseball program to which he will contribute and enjoy himself.

Thanks Deuce. Although it really wasn't necessary because it is nobody's business other than yours and your family.

What is important is that everyone that I know that has met you as a player or a person has left with nothing but admiration. Obviously, your future is bright and promising: I'm looking forward to following your successes.

On a personal note, it takes a lot to impress my son as a pitcher. He seems to be more interested in a pitcher's makeup, moreso than his stuff. He came home one night, after a game the team he is helping to coach this summer, and said, "you've got to see this one kid pitch...Seth Simmons. He's a competitor with filthy stuff". I rarely hear him say that.

Oh....and tell Andy Partin that Braves says, "Hi".

FWIW, I've also seen Seth catch. He's a very good catcher. Extremely quick. Obviously he has talents you can't teach.

Message boards never handle these type discussions well. Although Seth's situation came up, the response was directed more towards "early commitments (potential concerns) and the rarity of changing commitments in baseball". I don't believe anyone was intentionally trying to point fingers at any one player....just pointing out the rarity and the other side of early commitments.

Most members on TBR are sophisticated and well advised on the recruiting process; and they realize that each family's situation is a unique experience. Despite the traditional responses about commitments and honoring commitments; isn't it wiser to find out that it wasn't a "good fit" early, rather than two years into one's college experience. One could fill a book with the names of players that discovered far too late that the school they attended was not a good situation for them (as far as baseball).

Please accept my apology if anything was said that questioned the character of Seth or his ability. There are very few posts or posters that intentionally set out to do that.

Hey Deuce- after 6 years of posting, there are not a lot of posts that I remember. But this particular one has always stuck with me.

My point is the recuiting process is a rollercoaster, but the experiences that one goes through is something that all of our members that will be starting this process will benefit from. The more that our members "give back", the easier it will be for the next parent.

I will say this, my family had our experience with NC State, as well. Not to insinuate it was bad....just a learning experience.

Thank all of you for everything you have said. I really do appreciate it. And Braves I do understand that what I said probably should have kept that with me and my family. But I have been asked by many people over and over. And I finally just gave in. But I do appreciate what all of you guys have said about me and my situation. Thanks

I have been out of town for a while and just got on to see how things went down in East Cobb . I would like to thank everyone for the comments about my son. I am proud of his accomplisments and who he is becoming as a young man. Is he perfect far from it but he is a good kid.

I don't think anyone said he wasn't a good kid. I've heard many people speak highly of him. In this situation it may work out best for everyone. Better for Seth to reach this conclusion now than later. I'm probably too close to this one to say anymore. The comment about NCSU was what caused me to question. It's public knowledge that Roberts at ncsu is looking at openings, by his own choice (WCU for one). Maybe that is what Deuce was referring. Avent's contract just got extended, for better or worse. Deuce called in to question an unspecified situation at ncsu. I was simply saying there are two sides to everything. And no, I'm not at state fan. I'm from Texas.

    Anyway, good luck to Seth.
