    NC Lady Lightning wins ASA 16A State Championship

    After a subpar game Saturday night against the Lady Blues, The Lightning put it together with great pitching, defense and strong timely hitting.

    NC Lady Lightning 6
    Fuquay Bombs 3

    NC Lady Lightning 4
    Carolina Cardinals 1

    NC Lady Lightning 3
    Knockouts 0

    NC Lady Lightning 2
    Lady Blues 0
    Brittany Wood pitched a no hitter

    NC Lady Lightning 6
    Carolina Rage 1

    NC Lady Lightning 3
    Cape Fear Storm 2

    NC Lady Lightning 5
    Cape Fear Storm 2
    Heather Taylor 3 run HR in bottom 5th to seal it.

    NC Lady Lightning played 42 innings on Sunday and won 7 straight games to capture their 1st ASA State Championship.

    Lightning, YOU KNOW!!!!

    [I feel 99% sure that the bid will be passed down the highest finishing team that has not already rcv'd a bid. Who came in 3rd ??????????

    Cards , Cobras & Blues already in... who's the next highest team ??

    Since both Cards & Cobras have berths it was passed down to 3rd place Triangle Lightning. Congrats Lightning on a well deserved berth. I asked if they were going to Texas, & they are. There will be another good team that will represent NC well.
    Want to congrat the Cards on their State Championship, as they had to play alot of games to get back to champ.But I also want to say a BIG Congrats to the Cobras for runner-up. The Cobras were out matched with the Cards 4-5 college soph's on the field, but they showed alot of heart by hanging tough, & never giving up. We had our chances but couldn't quite capitalize when we needed to, & that was the difference in the games.Great Job Ladies !!
    Was a Great tournament, & there is no comparison with ASA & NSA !!! But haven't we been saying that all along.

    Great job Lady Lightning! Even though we did not like loosing to you we think you all are great girls!! Special thanks to Shay for catching Tori`s shot to right field!! What are best friends for?? Congrats also to Heather for her home runs! Way to go girls!!

    Great Job ladies you should be proud. Underdogs in the end but I'd say you covered the points spread for sure.
