Area 3 Playoffs Thread

Kernersville was up 6-3 in the bottom of the 8th when I left.

I couldn't take anymore.


I completely apologize for saying Surry deserved players on the all-star teams. I didn't realize the injuries they had and how bad some of the guys were. That team has the potential to be so much better, but some players decided not to play for certain reasons.

Kernersville has a good ball club. The only thing I didn't like was some of the language I heard in the stands coming from their dugout before the game. I understand boys will be boys, I would've just preferred that they keep that language down a little bit. Then again, there were only 5-6 people in the stands when that was going on.

By the way, the way Surry's field look is an absolute embarrassment. They had grass growing through the dirt of the infield and it just looked horrible.


Sorry if it sounds rough, but I was embarrassed for my school to be sent to that Legion team.

 

Lexington squares the series 7-3.

Sechriest pitched a gem (8 innings). I think the Stanly Co pitcher was Furr, who also was tough tonight. Zach Roach hit a grand slam that broke it open in the 7th. The cleanup hitter for Stanly hit a massive missile that was a tape measure job.

Good series going. Game 3 at 7 tomorrow in Albemarle.

I sat with our JV coach up behind home plate.

I figured Surry had no chance of coming back. It was a horrible game, flat out.


It's sad the quality of the Legion team today compared to even 5 years ago.

 

South Rowan defeats Kannapolis

Rudy Brown hits a grand slam to lead South Rowan past Kannapolis 8-5. South leads the series 2-0 and can close out Kannapolis tomorrow night.

 

Rowan defeats Moorsville

Rowan's pitchers completely dominated Moorsville tonight as Rowan defeated Moorsville 7-4 in 10 innings. Cy Young started on the mound and pitched 6 1/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 4 runs while striking out 14. Most teams wouldn't lift a pitcher with that line, but Jim Gant went out and got Cy in the 7th and brought in Alex Britt. Britt did not allow a baserunner over the final 3 2/3 innings while Rowan took advantage of 3 Moorsville errors on one play in the 10th inning to score 3 runs.

Jacob Dobbins homered for Rowan.

Glad to see the Rowan/Mooresville game won or lost by the players and not the guys in blue, like last night.

 

and a great pitching effort by Lomascola (Mooresville) overshadowed by clutch Rowan hits and poor Mooresville fielding.
