    Understanding the mess

    Southern Div.
    Mocksville
    Rowan
    Mooresville
    S. Rowan

    Northern Div.
    Kernersville
    Randolph
    WS
    Western Forsyth

1st Round. #1 North vs. #4 South and so on in a series beginning at the higher seed.

1st round winners from Area III & IV (plus Cherryville, As you can see they did not make the playoffs) go to Cherryville to play in a qualifying tournament. The top 2 teams plus Cherryville(host team) will advance to the State playoffs, it could be that either Area III or IV would not be represented. Each area should be represented. Also cost factor: Play off rounds usually have larger gates than regular season, in going to Cherryville we lose gate, concessions, 50/50 etc. Then we have to inccur the travel expenses to Cherryville, for us it is a 2+ hour drive, transportation alone will be approximately $300 per day, no play off income but playoff expenses. Also it will start on Sunday and continue Mon, Tue, Wed. These are work days for most people, most will have to take time off from work to attend games, including coaches.

Just another way to line Cherryville's pockets!

Thanks, I understand what all the feelings are about now. IMO, that is tuff on programs that need to make enough money to keep the program healthy.
I guess it hasn't changed much since I played back in the 70's. It's a shame because I firmly believe that the Legion program, both Jr and Sr, is worth a young man's summer. But tricks like this sure make showcase look more inviting for next summer! :daisy:

All of area 3 fans should show up with signs letting them know how we feel. Nothing dirty but just something to let them know it is wrong. Area 3 should not pull out because it would only hurt the kids. Most of the kids gave up going to the beach or going some place for vacation. Things like this hurts the program.

There will be a tournament for these teams that advance & the winner of the state does not advance beyond NC anyway. I am sure they will survive missing their beach trips.

Isn't the date on the qualifyer July 19-22 , the state tournament July 26- 30 All area 3 teams should not buy any concessions or 50/50 tickets at this tournament . The hell with the commisioners and Cherryville.

It's not about missing a beach trip. It's called commitment and I believe that goes both ways.
The kids commit to play for their team for the summer and the legion commits to sponsor and treat each team fairly. When one or the other changes in mid-season, then that's a failure on their commitment to the other side. No different than a kid that quits after a few games, only in this case it may have a bearing on whether a team will be financially able to support a team next year. Even if it's just being able to purchase uniforms or new batting helmets, etc.
Our first year team struggled with finances and was hoping to make the playoffs to bring more revenue to the team. We would not be able financially, without help, to play in this type of format.
    Just a thought to consider!

You are missing on what im trying to say. The kids stayed and played ball instead of going on vacation. THAT is why we should not pull out. The kids did uphold their end.

No, I was agreeing with you! I am saying by changing the playoff format, that the head dude for the legion did not live up to his end and this in fact will cause all the teams involved, except one to suffer financially.

Rowan improves to 23-3 on the season. Combined with the Rowan Sr. team, the two teams have combined for a 52-5 record this summer. Pretty strong, indeed.
