I saw a great argument on the boards the other day about three different tailbacks in this league and who was best? I was wondering who everybody thought would wind up being the conference player of the year this year? Will it be Britenstein from Watauga? Kincaid from McDowell or the tailback from AC. Who are the others players from the conference that have a decent shot at this award. Are there any QBs that are the real deal? I am just curious. Are there any defensive players that will affect the vote?

You know as a Watauga fan Im going to say Eric Breitenstein. Its because he is more than a runningback. Yes he had 2,600 yards and 30 touchdowns last year. However out of those 30 TD's, 26 were rushing, 1 int return, 2 catching, and one punt return. He does so much to affect the game it isnt funny.

On defense he is a all-state safety with 161 tackles, 5 ints, and 6 forced fumbles. He also returns punts and kicks, and is the long snapper.

He just does so much. There is a big debate as to weather he is the best running back and AC Reynolds fans and McDowell fans have a good argument for their backs as well. However when it comes to overall player its not even close IMO.

what he said.... eric may not be the best running back flat out in the conference overall... but if it comes to all around you have to give it to him... he blocks punts.... and then if they are looking to return them he returns punts... he blocks kicks and returns kicks... he has been set as a wide receiver, long snapper, running back, and even quarterback on special plays.... defense ill let his stats rest my case... hes all state... hes overall the best player hands down in the nw4a

    Interesting note to your discussion.
NCPFN/NCPREPS NC Coaches 2007 Pre-Season Top Thirty Players. Receiving the most votes at No.1 is Eric Breitenstein.

He was runner up for player of the year last year. FOR THE STATE. Hands down EB overall is the best athelete. Maybe not the best RB, although then again...

I will be making the trip to Watauga when McDowell plays them this year so that I can watch both of those studs on the same night and compare the two players. That should make for some solid entertainment.

Josh Russell from Alexander Central is the real deal at quarterback. He passed for 1900 yards and rushed for 500 with 16 touchdown passes and 5 touchdowns rushing. Since the cougars are going to the throw the ball more this year look for him to put up big numbers.
