The NC High School association did pass the metal cleat deal. High schoolers will be able to wear them next year. I believe that all travel organizations did pass it also except for the ASA and the ASA will probably pass it within the month. They will limit it to 16 and 18s I believe.

for sale: slightly used set of ringors, only four seasons of use. just kidding, wish i had some stock in cleates. lol. both pros and cons to this issue, but i believe it will come out more pro than con for all involved. but as a coach, i dont believe that i will wear cleates, the temptation to step on an umps foot would be unbearable. everyone be safe when you make the transition!!!!

I do not think that NSA would be able to pass this until their convention in October. Will have to wait and see what they do.

Actually it wasn't the NCHSAA that changed their rules it was the National

Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). Weather or not the

NCHSAA has to or will follow suit I don't know, so I wouldn't run out and buy

    the steels just yet.

NCHSAA has followed suit. It was announced last week that metal cleats WILL be permissible in North Carolina. It is not a manditory rule. Players still have the option to wear rubber cleats if they choose.

Coaches (TB and HS) had better start teaching kids to slide properly and fielders to get out of the way...which they should do anyway!

Always a possibility. We'll also see more agressive play in marginal conditions with lower probability of muscle and joint injuries caused by slipping...backs, knees, ankles. I think I like the tradeoff...less major injury for possibly some minor injury.

So, should we buy now or wait?

Will it happen for sure here in NC HS? I'd like to know because if you are at the NSA World Series, Ringor has their metal cleats on a special price for $70. delivered. They are at Cherry Park and will be at Pin Swap tonight at Knights Stadium, @ 6:00. There are no gate fees this year either!

I was at the meeting. It is a definite that metal cleats will be allowed by the NCHSAA for next season. You don't have to wear them but the option is now there.

It appears I'll be dragged out da house to buy steels for the DD.

Bet ya it's going to be tough to find sizes to fit, most mens sizes won't go below "8" which is a womens 9 1/2. Dat's a big foot.
