Not sure who Mt. Zion is to be honest...All I do know is that they are a private school who was a last minute replacement for another private school that was on the orignal schedule.

Sounds to me like it's the same Mount Zion Christian Academy from Durham. The one that is more famous for its' basketball than its' football.

    Private School Pushover?

When I saw Mt. Zion on the schedule I wondered if McDowell was making sure to get an easy win during their bye week from the NW4A conference. (By the way, they ain't nothing wrong with that!!!) Now, I ain't so sure if that will be a cakewalk or not. I don't know didley about that school except that they have had some stellar B-Ball teams in the past. I wonder how decent their Fuseball program is?

Just to clarify, I found out last night that Mt. Zion used to be known as P.A. North which is a private school in Gaston County. The name change was done after McDowell's schedule was originally released. So actually its the same school that was printed on the schedule, they just go by a different name. My guess is that this should be a winnable game for the Titans and yes the NCHSAA will count this game in terms of record for possible playoff seeding.

Don't know of any real standouts other than Josh Collins (running back). Could be one of the best we have had in some time. Messer not playing will hurt. We do have one speedster in Debernodia but he is small. Legion is still playing around here so all anyone is talking about is baseball. Looks to me like we will be small and slow. Not a good combination for football. But we do have a very good coaching staff and look for them to win some games

I have stayed out of this till now. The teams are working out so here is my two cents worth.

    1 AC Reynolds Why not?
    2. Freedom They could be pretty good this year
    3. Alexander Central Yes, they lost a lot but don't discount them
    4. Watauga Sorry, Cinderella
    5. McDowell Buggy and at last some defense will make them better
    6. E Burke They will excape the basement
    7. S Caldwell Hell, it's a baseball school

Good Luck to all and a wish that every player gets better and every team has some great moments.
