    Thanks for all the talk.

Id like to see wood come back.

Maybe just half of the innings in a game.

Ive read about the right and wrong way to hold/swing a wood bat. Would some help me out on this?

There is a member here that makes wooden bats. Maybe he can chime in.

I don't see it happening until college makes the move first. Other than California, I also do not see many states making the move to wood at the HS level while others continue to use metal.

"2-4-6 DP" is the master. He makes wood bats and they are terrific.

For the obvious personal reasons, I wish high school and college would both make the switch. Aside from that, I think the swith would be good for players, coaches, and scouts. I coached in a woodbat league this summer and over half of our games were decided by three runs or less. When this is the case, mistakes are magnified. It forces players to focus for 9 innings. One let down will cost you a game on some nights.

We had one kid who is a pretty big pro prospect. I had the following question posed to me at least 8 times this summer from 8 different scouts: "How did ____ handle the wood this summer?" If a kid can hit with wood in high school and college, he will be able to hit with wood in pro ball. The same applies for pitchers when it comes to pitching to wood bats. Believe it or not, its different.

If anyone has any questions on wood bats in general, please ask. I love talking about wood bats and the process of making them.

New York, New Jersey, and North Dakota can be added to the list. The University of North Carolina is currently doing a study on pitchers being injured by batted balls in an effort to make the change here. I will see if I can find the letter they sent and post it on here.

    bat sides

Yes, there is a correct way to hold a wood bat, and so many don't know that, even college players.

    label up or label down.

Look at the bat as a 2x4, (look at the grain of a 2x4) the label SHOULD be on the open grain side, meaning the smaller lines of the grain should be below/above it, and that, the smaller grain side is where the ball should be hit.

again, label up or label down. Bats break more when you hit on the label or the label side.

"I don't even see it coming at me. It's dangerous. It's very, very dangerous. ... I'm speaking from someone who is standing on the mound for 22 years, and I can see the difference," he testified.

Cannot over look this. If it is your job to be in front of it you would know best. If they do change it should be at all levels at the same time.
