    A Hole in My Tongue

OK. Omagic. I bit my tongue long enough. And given the fact that I am Braves alter ego I'm now going to set the record straight for you.

I'm sure the 15U Caldwell Spartans are a fine bunch of boys. This is not about them. This is about ACCURACY and FACTS.

The 15U season is just beginning.....so I went back to see how the 15U Spartans did in the 14U season that just ended.

The 14U Caldwell Spartans "officially" ranked 20th in the NC USSSA (AAA) Power Rating for the entire 14U season. There are also 21 MAJOR teams listed in the 2007 14U results. So, assuming those teams are better than the AAA teams, one conclusion would be that the Caldwell Spartans finished the summer as the 41st ranked team in North Carolina USSSA for the 14U (2007) season.

NC 2007 USSSA AAA Final “Power Ratings”
    1 NC NC Baseball Academy
    2 NC TCSS Heat
    3 NC Carolina Mustangs
    4 NC Carolina Rivercats
    -
    20 NC Caldwell Spartans

It looks like the Caldwell boys were 16-16 in USSSA Baseball during the 14U (2007) season while going 0-3 against the Major (Stacked) teams.

And now they are #1 in the State AND the Nation? First of all, Points don't matter. Power Ratings are what are used to accurately rank the teams.

My only question for you Omagic is "did you really believe what you posted, or was it feeble self promotion?" Because if it was self promotion you didn't need to do it. Caldwell County Baseball doesn't need the "thin" accolades you attempted to bestow upon them. Their record speaks for itself! I saw the H.S. boys play more than once this past year. They let their play do the talking!

It's great that you are so proud of the 15 year olds there in your area. Tell them to keep up the good work. I agree with an earlier post. They should "play up" some with the Majors and take their game on the road some too. It will be a great learning experience and will ultimately help them step up their game even faster. Best of luck to these boys for the upcoming years.

    my 3 cents

Yep they got a good thing in Caldwell. Im not trying to be disrespectful.

You have to admit that if you begin a thread with #1 in NC, #1 in country, etc. on a board like this you are gonna get an earful.

    aguyyouknow is absolutely right.

The power rating, point rating on USSSA are just numbers.

IMO the true measure of a program is if the players are better players at the end of the season. Did each player improve?

You could be the #1 ranked team in the world but IMO if each player did not improve then whats the point of the ranking.

Measure your program against that standard. Know EACH of your players. Know each's strengths and weaknesses. Help each player IMPROVE.

The whole community of supporters you mentioned can help each player IMPROVE.

OK, I'll pick at ya a little bit. What happens if a 2B, SS, and 3B shows up to tryout that are better than what you have?

    caldwell spartans 15u

The caldwell spartans 15u team was just advanced to the major division after playing only 3 tournaments in the 08 season. Congratulations to coaches and players for moving up. Evidently the team has gotten better. Looking forward to watching them play next weekend.:229031_hail:
