Bryce Grady - North Lenoir HS mif of - Bryce is a terrific player. Anyone who has seen North Lenoir play the last couple of years will agree. He can flat out swing the bat and is a plus defender. Bryce is a tough guy that really knows the game. Outstanding runner as well.

Jim Leggett - Rocky Mount HS RHP of - Jim is a winner. Just check out his record over the past three years. Middle 85-86 pitches in that range with a devastating change up and good breaking ball. Jim knows how to pitch and wins. He beat us last year and just about eveyone else he has faced in HS. He has a great pitchers body and tons of upside. I look for him to have a fantastic sr year for Rocky Mount.

Mark Buchanan - Cedar Ridge HS mif of - Mark is outstanding. Tremendous in the field with alot of versatility. Mark can play mif 3b and all three of posistions and he can rake from the right side. He has good speed and knows how to play the game.

Travis Horn - Northern Durham HS c of - Travis is a very solid catcher with a good arm. He also can play a really nice of. Travis is a very good hitter that can use the whole field. Travis is one tough dude folks. This kid can play.

Jacob Davis - Wilson Fike HS of - Jacob is a hitter. With great size and good speed Jake is a plus defender in the outfield. The thing that really stands out about Jacob is his ability at the plate. This kid can flat out rake. I love his approach at the plate , quiet confident and patient. He hits good pitching. I love this kids make up as well.

Bentley Massey - Wilson Fike HS RHP - Bentley is a middle 80's guy with a low 3/4 arm slot that gives hitters fits especially the first couple of times they see him. Nice clean arm action. Bentley knows how to pitch. He has great stuff. Someone is going to get a nice pitcher for the next level.

Casey Allison - West Henderson HS of - Stud!! Gets great reads in the outfield and is a very good runner. 6.8 guy and can play. His bat is bigtime. Huge power to all fields. This kid can rake with the best of them. He will not be on the market much longer. Plus make up with this kid. Very good arm.

Josh Allman - Swain HS LHP - Tremendous pitcher and yes he is left handed. Lower 80's stuff with a deuce and change. Knows how to pitch and commands his stuff very well. Tons of upside still growing and still coming into his own. He wins folks. And he will win at the next level.

Zach White - North Davidson HS LHP - Stud!! If you dont know who he is then dont tell anyone because they will know you dont follow HS baseball in this state. Bigtime pitcher that wins. Great cb cu and location. Middle 80's and has been upper 80's. Offers on the table already. It wont be long before he makes a decision.

Keith Goodwin - South Granville HS 1B OF - Keith is a plus defender at 1B and can play the of as well. Good runner with juice from the right side. Keith is a very hard worker and will make a nice player at the next level. Very good body and is still growing. He will develop nicely at the next level.

Alex Pearce - Nash Central HS C OF P - Alex is one of the top catchers in the state. Very good behind the plate. Great at blocking pitches and a 2.0 or below all day long. He can pitch as well. He also can play the outfield. Alex is a very good hitter with a very patient approach at the plate.

OK I will save some for my next post. Many if not all of these guys were AC performers or State Games guys but it does not matter to me if they were or were not. I have seen them play and they are very good and can definitely play at the next level. I would like to hear about some guys you have seen.

    Three More

I can not leave these three guys off.

John Alphin - North Lenoir HS - RHP OF John is outstanding. Had some nagging injuries last season so he took the summer off to rehab. Outstanding stuff on the hill working in the mid 80's touching upper 80's. Great movement and knows how to pitch. Great body and a kid who works very hard. Very good outfielder who can also swing the stick. Outstanding student and a wonderfull young man.

Chad Rothlin - Foard HS - RHP utility - Chad is a stud. Everytime I see him he looks like he has grown an inch. Outstanding stuff on the hill he was 88 all day long at East Cobb this summer. Tremendous off speed stuff and tons of upside. People tell me he is a relentless worker. Chad is going to be a bigtime college pitcher. Believe me you do not want to show up at the park and see him in the other pen getting ready to pitch against your team.

Austin Moyer - SE Guilford HS - RHP 1B - Big strong kid that loves to compete. I have seen him 86-88 with great stuff on the hill. Others report they have seen him bumping 90. One things for sure he can pitch. And by way he swings it from the leftside and can hit it a mile. Great kid as well.

OK - Lets hear about some players!!!!

Any word on Kris Richards, SS at W. Johnston HS?

Kris is also gaining recruiting attention in football as a kicker.

    Some More

Steele Myers - Durham Jordan HS - mif rhp - Steele was the PAC-6 4A player of the year last season as a Junior. Steele is a plus defender in the middle with an outstanding arm. He can hit and he has power. On the hill he will run it up there mid to upper 80's and spins a nice cb. I know Steele also plays football and I hear he is a pretty darn good db. He played this summer with the Diamond Devils out of SC.

Zack Furhl - Lee County HS - RHP - This guy has won alot of games in HS. He has been a go to guy his entire HS career. He is a guy that will run the fb up there mid to upper 80's and has good off speed stuff. He is a guy with a thick strong body that competes. I like him alot and he will be snagged up real soon Im sure. He plays his summer ball with the Carolina Cubs.

Craig Farmer - Northern Durham HS - RHP 3B - Craig played some SS last year for Coach Shankle but for me he projects more at the corners at the next level. He also can pitch. To me the bat stands out. Gap to gap power right now with a nice solid approach at the plate. Good guy for college coaches to get a look at. Plays his summer ball with the Copperheads.

Jeremy Peed - Roxboro Person HS - RHP ? - Athletic kid with a great baseball build. Tall and lean. Tons of projection on the hill. I saw him mid 80's last year and he has a nice change up with a developing breaking ball. The kid can flat out hit. Coach Evans can tell us more about where he projects in the field. But he is very athletic and should be able to play somewhere in the field.

Very Solid players I have been around this summer...

Craig Farmer - INF - Northern Durham - Aggressive player with excellent tools. PLayed SS for his HS team but IMHO projexts out as a solid 3B. Hard nosed gritty player that can hit with some power and can be a terror on the bases.

Jeremy Peed - OF/RHP - Person - One of my own players here. Jeremy has excellent tools. Can play any outfield position, good speed, and has developed into a very good hitter. Has a cannon for an arm and is a very solid player. Solid pitcher but IMHO projects out better as an OF, man he can turn it loose in the OF.

Jason McEachern- RHP - St. Stephens - Solid pitcher, this guy can pitch. Live arm, good run on FB , mixes and spots well.

Manny Beltran - OF - South View - Verbally committed to NC A&T. Good speed and very good hitter, runs really well and has a strong arm also. Incidentally, his cousin is Carlos Beltran (Mets)... competitor and very solid player.

James Teddar - MINF- Calvary Baptist - I love watching this kid play. Excellent hitter (LH) with very good speed good size for a MINF and has good gap power. Can also be a terror on the bases.

Steele Myers - SS - Jordan - Very solid player and was deserving of PAC-6 POY (as Coach 27 said) very solid player that has excellent tools.
This is a beginning of players that I have been around this summer that I feel just stood out this summer. As I look back I will add others as I can.

Batted around .450 as a junior. Can play almost anywhere. Knows the game very well. Over 20 SB's as a junior. In the 6.6 range in the 60 I think.

    Thank you Coach

Thank you Coach for redirecting the thread on the '08 prospects...... appreciate the updates on the '08's who i believe deserve some of the attention this year. The original thread was getting a little silly. I thought this board was about promoting young men and the sport of baseball..... perhaps i was wrong.

I'll 2nd BBRKSFAN recommendation on this one

As smooth a shortstop as I've seen recently in the 3 games I watched him play in last spring - great range.

I mention him and not the others only because I didn't get to watch the others BBRKSFAN mentioned as much as I noticed Cody Buch.

Ryan Waldrep LHP: Size, you can't teach it. Low to mid 80's guy, but when his off speed stuff is on, he can dominate. With his size and some refinement, he is going to be nasty good in college.

Jason Brown - South Stokes - RHP Jason is a stud. I personally saw him live in the 88 range at East Cobb and he just dominated the competition. He has a great delivery and outstanding off speed stuff. And this kid competes on the hill.

Cullen Park - East Rutherfordton - RHP Cullen has a great pitchers body and some outstanding stuff as well. I saw him at the Impact Pitchers Catchers Showcase at LR and he was 88-90. Outstanding cb and change. Tons of upside with this young fella.

Tyler Vogler - Mount Tabor - Inf OF - Can you say hitter? If you cant just say Vogler. This guy is a pure hitter. He is one of the best players in NC. Outstanding in the field there are no holes in his game. Gritty kid that loves the game because you can tell by the way he plays. I have seen him play several times. I love to watch this guy in action. Again, He can HIT!
