Hilltop Tournament

    Hilltop Invitational Baseball Tournament is trying to expand to 12 team format. Organizers are looking for two more teams. Current teams include Chapel Hill (host), East Chapel Hill (host), Orange (host), Cedar Ridge, South Granville (defending champion), Southern Lee, J F Webb, High Point Wesylan, Southern Alamance and a team from Pennsylvania.

    This should be a very competitive tournament with a few ranked teams.

    Northwood?

    The Chargers have always played this tournament. Have they dropped out of it?

    Northwood coach called and pulled out of the tournament, according to organizers.

    hmmm...

    That's interesting, Northwood has been one of the participants in this tournament for a long time, maybe since it's beginning. New coach at Northwood must have a good reason for this... at least I hope so. The Hilltop was a good chance for boys from around the area to see each other and have a chance to compete. Now that legion ball is history, the Northwood guys have lost out again.

    Northwood has been in the tournament since it began some 5 odd years ago. Not sure what happened. They were in, then they were out. Still looking for two teams to complete a 12 team field.

    here's an idea

    Have you posted the need for teams on the hsbaseballweb site? It would be fun to get more out-of-state teams involved. This could "grow" the tournament into a regional verses local event. This could also become a draw for scouts and college coaches.
