    It figures

I knew when I posted my remarks; someone would post this type of comment. But when Coach 27 said to "post on guys you know", I decided to give credit to those who have earned it. I also do not do this for a living; these are the players I see each week. Unfortunately, we do not have one or two quality players; the team is loaded with them. Check the box scores that Coach H posts and you'll see different contributors each game. Secondly, I did not comment on my own son for fear of being pointed the "Daddy Ball" finger. I guess I'm just the type to cheer for my own team and not against the other. I thought that is what TBR is all about.

And Ryan Stetson is on the On Deck O's.

It is...and Gameday was completely wrong in his posts. Let this be a warning that I will not tolerate those kind of posts. It will not continue or the poster can find another place to visit.

Touting kids is one of the objectives of this site. Not crazy about how it is always handled but you know when you come here that it's part of the deal. Someone can tout a kid all they want but someone else wil determine whether a kid has the tools required or not.

One thing this thread has taught me is there is a bunch of talent out there in the '09 class.

I'll talk about him. Plays at Butler and batted 3rd on the SW4A Championship team as a sophmore. Is a Catcher with a plus arm and yet athletic enough to play RF as he did for Butler last year. On the SCP one of the top hitters. Great kid and great family.

    Chris Overman

Chris Overman (P, 1B, OF - BL/TR) plays for the On Deck O's and Myers Park HS. Big, strong kid, primarily a hitter with a sweet left-handed swing, excellent knowledge of the strike zone, and gap-to-gap power. Great hands - reminds me of David Mailman at the plate. Must be that On Deck training. Chris started out slowly with the Mustangs this season, but rumor has it that a visit to the eye doctor resulted in a new set of contact lenses and an absolutely dominating finish to the season. I heard (did not see) that he put one dinger (a grand slam no less) into the creek beyond the center field flagpole at MPHS - that's 450'. Made SW4A All-Conference as a sophomore. Look for a lot more out of him next year.
(No, I'm not his dad nor even a family friend. Just impressed.)

    Plus Arm?

Plus (adj): above average, usually compared to average major leaguer. "Derek Jeter had plus arm strength in high school -- it was body control that he needed work on because he was growing into his frame." (Mickey White)

    Dawgswood,
A Plus Arm? I gotta see this kid catch! I thought the kid that caught ahead of him this past HS season threw pretty well but if you say this kid's got a better arm than that I can't wait to see him catch. I didn't notice it when he was in RF. I only saw him a few times and there really wasn't all that much chance to show his "carry." Do you have any Pop times for him yet?

    Thanks for the heads up.

I'm not a scout big guy so you'll have to see for yourself. All I can tell you is that not many folks stole any bases on him all summer so that must say something. Whether that is a plus, minus, etc. it looks pretty strong to me. Maybe we can put you on 1st base and see if he can throw you out! :biggrina:

I liked the way this kid swung the bat and "hung in there" against older competition last season. How does he throw compared to the kid that just graduated?
