acr is not suited to run the spread. terrible mistake. also coach seems lost at times at least to me. for example: vs tcr friday with the ball and 9.9 seconds left in the first qtr clock running with 12 secs on the play clock acr calls time out. you wonder if they have any idea what's going on. tcr was calling out our plays when we came to the los, did we huddle?no. did we change signals?apparently not. coaches have to have a plan for everything they might face in a game.if this continues it will be a terribly disappointing season and a good chance acr looks for a new coach. it's one thing to get beat but to look clueless while doing it is something else again

Well everyone in the NW4A has looked quite classy compared to Wataugas non conf opponents so far! But i must say the EB fan who kicked and punded the press box while screaming obscenities and complaining about sportsmanship each time that watauga played Hells Bells on third down was very mature...

I counted at least six passes friday night that hit the receivers hands or chest and fell right to the ground. Dalton made a handful of catches, Rowe made a catch or two and even Buggy would have had a catch in the flat if not for a penalty. We score 26 points and YET...after all of that the first person we blame is Scott Helms? The coaches cannot be accountable for everything. And BTW the decision to yank Martin in favor for Amerto was done by the HEAD COACH as a method to supply the offense with some energy, and not a decision made by a frustrated O'Coordinator.

The fact that we scored 26 and never was in serious contention to win tells the tale IMO...

I agree Big Dan. Offensively we can play with most. But defensively we struggle. A team should never lose a grame in which they score 5 TD's as we did last week against E. Rutherford. Then come back again this week and score 4 TD's again and like you said we were never in the game. DEFENSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE. We need defense!!! Carpenter had a good run back on the interception Friday and Aaron Bingham had several tackles but other than that....??????...

I say scrap the whole coaching staff and bring in someone with PROVEN head coaching success and a staff that not only did well in HS at that position, but has proven coaching success at that position. So far, giving up over 350 yards a game and 32 points per game isnt proven success. And Im not talking about this year, this goes back since Haynie became head coach and even sooner when David Riggs was coach.

Its the same collection of stiffs that kept Lloyd Church as basketball coach and removed him as AD while initiating the double standard for Brian Franklin to be new girls coach and AD at the same time.

All you folks in here piling on Haynie just remember that things are not the way that they used to be at Mcdowell High.

Mcdowell simply does not have the athletes top to bottom that they have had in the past, and it shows up big time on the football field. Facts like this are hard to swallow because the team currently has one of if not the best athlete in school history, but aside from the skill positions at RB and WR the Titans just don't have the type of horses necessary to compete in the trenches. If you get whipped up front (as the Titans do every night out) then it's hard to be successful.

Haynie is a good man and a good coach. I guarantee that he is much sicker over 0-4 than any so called "fan" of the Titans. The reason that the county has had so much trouble with coaches recently is because of all the "fans" of the Titans pointing fingers at the coaching staffs unfairly.

A good example of what I am talking about is the situation with Lloyd Church. People were calling for his head during a time when Mcdowell just didn't have the players that they have had in the past. Then last year, the Titans have two all-conference players and an all-state player in Hausley and AMAZINGLY enough manage to finish third in the state. The fact remains that those Titan teams that didn't finish third in the state were still very well coached, it's just that talent makes a team's ceiling a lot higher. Church certainly didn't become a better coach overnight-he was always a good coach, and when he got the talent he did what good coaches do with it.
As an old coach once said, "it's not the X's and the O's it's the Jimmy's and the Joe's", and right now in Mcdowell County they have one terrific player and then a bunch of plain ol' Joes.
