As a person lucky enough to play in the NFL and play and win two Super Bowl Championships. I promise you I have seen a lot.
I find any dogging the coaches for Post 29 some of the most ridiculous bull I have heard in all my years.
Such garbage is generated by people with bad intentions and with an axe to grind.
In 11 seasons of coaching, Coach Hamby has had 3 state championships in 5 appearance in the title game,
5 Area Four Championships in 8 appearances…man can u believe that? His teams have played for the Area Championship 8 times (winning 5) in his 11 years of coaching and finished no lower than third in the state 6 out of his 11 years. (Five times his teams have played in the state championship game and eight times in the Area Championship all in just 11 seasons. Those are unreal numbers guys. That’s darn great success.
There has been a State Tournament now for the last eight seasons and he has lead Caldwell County to the state tournament 5 times. More than any other team in the state.

I have been waiting to reply because I didn't want to jump on the band wagon to get rid of coach Hamby. He does a pretty good job but I think he gets alot of great players. Great players get it done most of the time reguardless of the coaching. Thats what makes them great. In my personal experience with the 29er's I only have a one major problem with his coaching and it is not directly baseball related. He takes the team out to pray before and after games but then allows very foul language in and out of the dugout. Not a very good example from a team that just got up from praying. I will not take my kids to another game for this very reason. So, if you want my 15 dollars at the gate then stop being such a hypocrit and clean up the language!!!

Well this time you are wrong, no bad intentions or axe to grind and nothing to gain or lose. My opinion is from sitting back and watching for the past five years as chances to win blown are blown to bits from the lack of quality coaching. I don't care how good a team is it has to have LEADERSHIP. A coach has to know when to pull a pitcher, a coach has to know where players need to play and put them there. A coach needs to know when and what calls to make. He has had the good fortune to have players that have had quality leadership up until the time they get to him then they have no leadersip at all, just his big ego.

    The fact remains

The fact still remains, well first let me say, Hamby is a good coach, he used to be great. My opinion is baseball changes. The game changes, you have to be in it to win it. Take Bobby Dale, he coaches a high school baseball team pretty much all year round, same can be said for Grayson. Now look at what Hamby does as well as the other coaches... They dont coach a team until what all three high schools are together? So whenever South players get there, thats when the season starts. Yes Hamby has posted many numbers and titles and whatever, but he only coaches summer baseball, honestly, the first half of the season is probably a refreshment of what plays and the ability of players he has to work with. The game is not easier but not as hard when you coach almost year round. I know he watches the guys during school ball, but legion is different. All my opinion or critical thinking is implying is that Gary Hamby is a good coach, but Caldwell needs in todays times with a new era of more studs on a team a new stud coach who is around coaching and situations year round. Can you learn situations when you watch it on tv or from local high school games? NO, you learn by coaching and getting dirty. What if a player only tried to play just in the summer? Well he might make the team, but he is not going to be as competitive as the others who have played the majority of the season. Hamby is a good coach, but I guess Caldwell doesn't have a George Steinbrener, who won't put up with simple area titles. It's time to hand down the tradition and let a new coach keep the good name going.
