Exactly...they are free agents, sitting back watching the nincompoops overbid for their services. Actually, the players, many times, have achieved some success. But they don't have to be concerned with the draft.

Think of it as an orientation. The organization gathers their puppies together to teach them the organization's philosophies. It's very structured where, for pitchers, they are on a strict pitch count. It gives the club a chance to observe their prospects before making recommendations in changing mechanics and things like that. They pretty much just want to observe.

They are no stats kept for games played (at least I don't recall any). It's pretty much what you would think instructional baseball would be like.

MLBscout may be able to offer more details, but that's what I remember it to be

You also have actors that are paid as much as $40,000,000 per picture or a TV actor that receives over $100,000,00 per year. Heck, Oprah Winfrey makes more than $250,000,000 per year..and for what?...to be a talk show host?

They're entertainers; they are paid market value. Sports athlete's as well. The mega deals for athlete's started with George Shinn's, shocking at the time, paying Larry Johnson 50 million. The earth stood still when that figure was announced. Pretty soon other athlete's thought they were better than Larry Johnson and should be paid the same if not more.

Professional athlete's are no different than anyone else. When contract time comes around they are gauging their success based on other players performance. If player A was making 40,000 and player B was making 75,000, then they expect to make the 75,000 or more.

The problem is when you have idiot owners overpaying subpar players.

He will be back in town on oct 20th. He throws a bull pen about every three days and pitches one inning in every 5th game. As Braves said no stats are kept. they also work out every morning.
