    Love it or leave it!

I just love the fact that I can go to various showcase events across the south and see the kids that are mentioned on this board. While some descriptions may at times be exagerated, I put names (that I read on TBR) with faces and I really appreciate the information shared here by all that participate. Many times I have sat in aw watching these kids show their stuff. It also allowed me to meet some of the parents at these events and talk baseball. I now go to HS football games and a few of parents talk about what we read today on TBR; who is playing well, where is this kid planning on going to school, who signed, what should I do, how do I get noticed?
Is there anything better than talking baseball?

For those that sit around and complain about how this done or not done, find another hobby- stay away from baseball. Start a knitting or quilting class, or something.

You guys are way too easy! And One Putt you still haven't answered my comment from the "What about the other guys" thread. I'm very interested in your examples of how this site contributes the "I" syndrome.

    Showcases Too!

Coach, my son participated in a showcase last weekend and they issued a list of the top players ranked in order. Now I paid my money and there is now way they should have posted a list that didnt include every player all tied for the #1 prospect. Who are they to judge whos the best! Its just not right!:13:

Im not going to single anyone out

I was speaking to any kid that plays on a showcase team when I started the "other guys" thread. How that got turned into HS transfer's , this site promoting in some way the "I" mentality of kids today I have no idea. I deleted it because I didnt want to be part of a thread that accused HS coaches of illegal recruiting violations , turning kids into "I" players ETC ETC. And I sure didnt want anyone to think for one minute it was ok to come on here and congratulate a parent coach or player on getting a scholarship to play in college. That is so selfish isnt it?

So I just thought lets take the "I" out of box scores and not mention any names. Lets do the same thing when a kid commits to a college program as well. The last thing we want to do is promote players and congratulate them on reaching a goal through hard work and dedication. No this would be wrong because if we do this we would have to leave someone out.

How does talking about HS baseball players on this site - trying to get their names out to people - giving them props for doing good - informing one another about players from all around the state - congratulating them on their accomplishments - how does that promote "I" players? If it does then Braves is right we need to shut down. And if this site does that any news media article about a player or team does the same thing including a box score. "I can't believe Johnny is not in the box score today. I know he was 2-3 not 1-3". Its not the players that have the problem with this kind of stuff. Its "some" parents.

You guys are acting like a bunch of girls!

As a sidenote, how about using "letters" on jerseys instead of "numbers?"
Won't solve anything, but will be different.

You're right on the money, unfortunately some just don't get it.

A baseball team is a group of "I"s, how well the "I"s perform collectively constitutes the quality of team they might have. "I" is not necessarily a negative description unless one chooses to make it that way. Plenty of "I"s are utilized by HS, Rec, Showcase and Legion Teams because of their individual passion, dedication, work ethic, and sportsmanship (not to mention talent) for the game of baseball. Some guys work so hard at being a good "I" that somewhere along the way they become an important part of the "T". I agree with bbrksfan ; it's baseball, if you don't like it, do something else.

TBR should continue to promote the positive "I", from no other source have I learned so much so fast about baseball in NC. Thank you Braves, you do it for the right reasons.

Side note: My loyal, non transferring, never been recruited, hopes to play Legion one day, son who we've now renamed T40, respectfully asks that his name not be put in print when he goes 0/4. To promote team unity, his teammates ask for the same consideration.
