    Just the Reason

As cheeze so wisely commented.....this is just the reason for girls who don't sign early not to give up. It has been stated here many times before that the responsibility lies with the player. She must make contact and stay in contact with these college coaches. You never know when things change and a door that was once closed, is now open due to circumstances you could not have anticipated.

    Verbal

Verbal or written, U have given your word! Does what U say not mean anything? Unless U sign a contract your word means nothing? Just asking? I am old enough to remember the days when a hand shake was good enough to bind an agreement which to me is the same thing as a verbal committment from both sides. Have seen a couple college programs where the verbal is only as good as a new player coming along the next day that is better than the one U just gave a verbal commitment.

In Maleah's case she was incontact almost weekly and attended winter camp at her own expense and watched the team play when they were down in the spring.

    SADLY

Sadly enough, the world truly has become a place of I can one up you, (My DD can get a better scholly than your DD did)! Everyone thinks that the grass is greener on the other side. It seems no one is happy with what they have. I personally think that people should teach their kids, that their word is of extreme value! But unfortunately, it is most times, the parents, that must have more! Don't even start posting hate posts to me, you all know, that you know someone, that the shoe fits! The majority really!
We will verbal on this offer, until we get a better one! That is not fair to the school, the team of that school, or the other person that you might have kept from receiving that scholarship money!
A lot of people feel as though, if you are not going to a D1 school, then you are not as good as others! That just plain is not true! There are different size schools for a reason. Not everyone wants to go to a huge D1 school. Everyone can not go to a huge D1 school.
It is absolutely HORRIBLE what Wisc coach did to this kid, Maleah! I am very glad to hear that it worked out for her! I hope that coach has a really crappy season and really I hope they lose their job! That is what they deserve! And just in case, that coach does get fired, maybe you should post their name so everyone will know who not to believe! :smack:

    Well said....

...Bmac. Things do change, so it only makes sense to me that a player needs to stay in contact with all of the coaches at schools that she really is interested in. When "your" time comes be ready, just like sitting on the bench in a ballgame and the ist stringer gets hurt.....you get the point I'm sure.

Wisc. can KMA!......and for all at TBR who don't know already,...GURU, I'm not Maleahs folks, but I, and my family have been lucky to know such a fine family as the Cousineaus!
