I'm speaking in terms of someone you met that made you look up to them when you were kids: Mickey Mantle would be one, but I never met him. So here are mine.

    - Harmon Killebrew- the single nicest man I have ever met in baseball
    - Bobby Valentine- I played LL with him when I was 10. I have followed his career ever since
    - Bobby Richardson- Wore his number as a kid. The only Yankee I liked (was a Met's fan)...ended up being my college coach

Jack Nicklaus, Jim Valvano and Clarence Owen.

Played 7 holes with Jack one time. Much nicer guy than you would think.

Caddied for Jimmy V in college and worked in the gym for him to make a little money. Worked the card games at McGregor Downs as a bartender when Bucky Waters, Dean, Coach K, Jimmy V., and Vitale would play cards. Those are just a few of the guys that would show up every once in a while.

My grandfather. PGA golf pro. Raised me, taught me the game, kept my butt out of trouble in HS.

Never was able to meet my childhood hero. I want to remember him as the player he was, not the man he is today. So I may want to meet him, but wouldnt be as excited as when I was a kid. My hero.... PETE ROSE

I did get to meet Roman Gabriel, he spoke at our HS athletic banquet when I was a Senior. Had my picture made with him and everything. Was a happy day!!

    Don Mattingly was mine

Braves, I met Bobby Richardson two years ago at an FCA banquet we were hosting. He flew up to be our guest speaker. Because I was our school's baseball coach, an fca huddle coach at the school, and because our church's preacher got him to come I got a chance to speak with him for a little while. What an inspiration.

If anyone ever has the opportunity to hear him speak, go!

    Not sure if this counts

This guy helped raise me while my dad worked for his degree. He was was not much on the huggy side just work hard and be stand up for yourself. Gave me a silver dollar one day. Did not have a high school education. Still have that same dollar. Grandfathers are the best.

    Thanks
