    Cleveland County Update from the Shelby Star

    The Crest Middle School Dragons continued to run roughshod over Tri-County Middle School Conference opposition Wednesday at Sid Bryson Stadium.
    The latest victim was R-S Middle, which took a 41-7 battering from the unbeaten Dragons (5-0).

    Next: Crest has an open date before playing host to Lincolnton on October 31.
    Wright stuff: Cortez Wright had a big day for the Chargers. He intercepted two passes, returning one 44 yards for a score. Wright also added an 18-yard touchdown run from scrimmage.

    Through the air: Weston Bradley hooked up with his receivers for two Dragon scoring passes. Harvey McSwain caught a 34-yard touchdown toss from Bradley. Later Rhaheim Ledbetter was on the receiving end of a 59-yard bomb from Bradley.

    More scores: Ledbetter had a 13-yard touchdown run and Michael Crosby crossed the goal line from three yards out.
    Swift kick(s): Hunter Poole knocked five of six conversion kicks through the uprights for the victors.

    From the coach: Dragons head coach Robert Melton pointed to strong play on defense from the linebacker tandem of brothers Diquan and Jamall Morris, free safety Jamarius Brooks (one interception) and defensive tackle Dane Rogers.

    Burns romps by East
    DENVER — The Burns Middle School Eagles captured a 34-14 road win against East Lincoln in football action Wednesday.

    Record: The Eagles improved to 3-1 in the conference, 3-2 overall.
    Next: Burns has an open date next week before playing host to rival Shelby the following Wednesday.

    Scoring: Darius Ramsey had touchdown runs of 40 and 64 yards for Burns. Tykee Ruff crossed the goal line on runs of 54 and 72 yards for the victors.
    Elijah Brown also had a 12-yard touchdown run. Two-point conversions came from Travond Ross and Ruff.

    Dee-fense!: Franklin Eskridge, Dontray Cumberlander and Darren Wright sparked the Eagles’ defensive effort. Elijah Brown supplied an interception for Burns.

    The Annual Apple Bowl between West Alexander and East Alexander has been postponed due to a power outage at the stadium. The game will be played Thursday at 4:30.

    any details of what happened? That will be a nice night for football.....the Apple Bowl and a JV Game to follow! There wont be much left of the field if the rain keeps up.

    I'm not so sure about that interested. We've had so little rain that I think it could handle a WHOLE lot more.

    Trojans Finish Season 7-0

    Chestnut Grove Middle defeated Gentry 38-0 to finish the season a perfect 7-0.

    I saw where Jamestown Middle School just wrapped up another 7-0 season. More goods ones moving up to Ragsdale in the future.
