West Charlotte Eligility Questions Raised

Why is this such a big story with the Observer? Have they've been dutifully checking every HS roster to make sure each & every kid is eligbile to play football/basketball? Why do I think this whole thing started because someone who hates Indepedence HS with a vengenance is trying to find any dirt on them to prevent them from winning another state title? I'm sure some parents do trying to bend the rules to get their kids into certain HS so they can get a better shot at a scholarship. Don't schools check on their players at the beginning of the season to make sure they are eligible ? ?

 

That's one of the things I've been wondering about through all of this, what if the local newspaper went and found every player at every school in every county's address, then went and knocked on the door to make sure that they lived there? How many irregularities would they find?

That's more or less what the Charlotte Observer did with Mecklenburg county schools. Frankly, given how thoroughly they vetted every single athlete, I'm suprised there weren't more problems found.

 

independence won most of their games with 2 ineligible players. Whether the school or coaches knew it they should not get to keep the wins. If you don't make the schools or coaches responsable, then whats to stop any one from doing it.

 

Oh i see what your saying,let's blame the messenger. That's what this country is all about now. How dare the press go out and expose the lying and dishonest. Don't they know that all that matters in this country is winning and anything that takes away from that is irreverent.How dare the Charlotte Observer go out and expose these cheaters. That is so unamerican.
