Hey playing a tough non-conference schedule can sometimes be very helpfull come conference time. I was a little worried about McDowell's game with Roberson last night coming off the easy win against burns Friday night. But it didn't seem to hurt the lady titans as they were ahead of the talented lady rams by 30 in the 4th. Another good thing a weak non-conference schedule can do for a team is allow a good shooter to build their scoring average up high before the conference starts. Some teams will do this but Coach Franklin hasn't had to because his bench players have played great.

East Burke has played some good teams so far and it will make them better come conference time. If you take Mcdowell out of the mix this year I don't see anyone else being a big favorite every night. It is good to get some big game experience early as long as you don't lose so much that your confidence gets hurt. You can get used to losing in your not careful

It seems to me that with the sort of preseason schedule the lady titans have, if their bench isn't doing well, then that would be pretty sad! No offense to the teams that they're playing, but whatever happened to preparing for confrence play during your preseason? The way I see it, TC is about the only real challenge the titans have in their preseason, so I think confrence time might be a little of a shock for them. I know just as much as anyone that McDowell has a strong team, but I think they're going to have a big adjustment when they go from an extremely easy preseason, to some tough confrence play.

I happen to agree with about everything you said. I was worried going into the Roberson game because I knew we had had a pretty easy schedule and I knew Roberson had beat Freedom. The one thing I've noticed about this years lady titan team is they are the deepest I've seen in a few years. We'll see how it plays out come conference time.

SC won tonight over Hibriten by 20. I think it was 66-46. The girls looked a little tired after playing a tough game last night but still played pretty well. They have West Caldwell Friday then conference starts next week.

The somewhat lopsided scores against East Rutherford and T.C. Roberson may be different when McDowell travels to Forest City on 12/18 for the return game against East Rutherford in "The Dungeon of Rutherford County" and then follow it up with the rematch on the road at Roberson, in a very dim & dingy Baldwin Gymnasium on 12/21. I guarantee that these rematches will be closer and both teams will give the Lady Titans all that they can handle.

Following a Christmas timeout, McDowell will face its stiffest competition of the season when they face some of the toughest teams in Eastern North Carolina (Wakefield & Leesville Road or Garner) at the GlaxoSmithKline Holiday Invitational in Raleigh. Correct me (bigdan) if Im wrong, but 2 of these teams were in the regionals last season and didnt lose many players.

I believe McDowell will be just fine when they start conference play on Jan 2 at home vs Alexander Central.

its not our fault that around marion alot of the girls teams are not superior to the lady titans. you dont want to be driving hours to play a good team when you can play schools that are close especially in the early part of the season. they are playing mitchell friday and they just played tc roberson. what other schools are better than those schools that they should be playing in girls basketball?
