Looks like Indy is losing 5 more players. I think that makes a grand total of 7 since this thing started and they continue to play. :huh2:

First and foremost, I am a huge HS football fan and a huge Big I homer. That being said, this whole thing is a joke. If anyone thinks this only happens at a couple of schools, all I can say is that you are naive. I have a nephew that plays HS sports and he is recruited on a regular basis. If you are going to go after WC and Independence, then go after Garinger and all other schools with the same intensity next year and get this over with on a date that is early in the season. If you think Tom Knotts needs to recruit, trust me he doesn't. Kids and PARENTS KNOW that they will get the looks if the kids play there. There are 7 questionable players and they should all be suspended no matter who it is. No team, including South Meck, should ever have to forfeit an entire season. Even IF WC's coaches or AD did what is suspected, those kids that joined the team that broke NO rules should be allowed to have something for their season and a season forfeit is not the answer.

This happens in academics as well. There is a dishonest element in society. Some students cheat on tests. Does that mean that the school should be discredited as a whole? Some teachers do immoral things. Does that mean the entire school should be discredited? IF AND ONLY IF it is determined an AD or coach INTENTIONALLY broke the rules, FIRE THEM on the spot. If not, suspend the students from participating in high school sports.

There are many young adults that have had a positive impact on their lives due to high school sports. I give the coaches props for taking time out of their lives to work with students.

Win or lose, I will support my Patriots. I would expect that we need to support the South Meck football team as well. I personally know two of the players on the SM team and it was wrong that they had to forfeit. Further punishing other teams with the HONEST players does no good. If you have this much energy around this topic, volunteer to do something at your local school and be a good role model as some of these players may not get that at home.

It will not happen but Indy should not be allowed to play for the State Championship this year. CMS has not be very proactive with these issues and the NCHSAA, well let's not get started on them.

im glad you made the statement about high school players being "recruited" on a regular basis. but you turn right around and say it doesnt happen at Indy? really? or would it be more correct to state that the players seek the program? Mr. Bigtime QB or RB or whoever decides he wants to play for the best team in the state but he doesnt know how to go about it. so he inquires to "somebody" about how to get the process started. does that scenario work for you? next thing you know, the best of the best end up on one team. imagine that,? of all the luck. these blue chip players just fall outta the sky and poor ole ball coach is living large.

you were dead on target with your opening statement. i wouldnt say it goes on everywhere though. some programs do stand on their integrity, state titles or not. and usually its the head coach who calls the shots. most have been around long enough to know all the tricks. individual school systems SHOULD monitor themselves to keep things from getting to this point. CMS has no one to blame but themselves and now their schools' rise to glory has been permanently tainted whether or not anybody wants to admit it. and no, Indy isnt the only prgram that has a bad smell. i personally know of another top high school football program with an equally respected head coach, who has made calls to a few kids up here where i live in Iredell County. thats pretty sad.

stay tuned next season folks. lets see where Mr. Blue Chipper ends up next season.....probably at a state title contender near you.

    Flawed Logic...

    Green & Gold,
I love HS football, too, and really wanted Indy to win # 8. The problem is that precedence has been set this season by the CMS athletic director. She forfeited South Meck's season, but turned her cheek to West Charlotte (until after they lost) and now Independence....until Sunday, probably.

The only way to be fair is for Indy to forfeit and then the darn CMS AD needs to resign. She has lost control of her region and doesn't appear to have the integrity to handle these situations in a uniform and just manner.

I love Knotts, Indy, and their tradition....but it ain't fair. I hate to say it, but I'll be pulling for New Bern. How can people not see the issues with the way that this has been handled? I don't really care for South Meck, but can't help but think that their team REALLY GOT SCREWED.

I'm tired of hearing that "it occurs everywhere." It most certainly does not.
If you have to lie and cheat to be successful in high school sports, then these kids are learning a horrible lesson. As grownups, we will reap what we sow.

    good call

we need to remind ourselves that in todays high school sports society its all about self promotion. what i mean is that any kid with the potential, or perceived potential is gonna seek the best route to gain a scholarship and/or at the very least, an opportunity to play at the next level. example: a good baseball player seeks the show case circuit in order to get noticed. same thing in football except for the fact that you dont have show case leagues. you have THE programs. if a kid is good enough, i mean really good, these programs will go after them.....if they think they can finagle the the rules a bit. or Mr. Parent isnt pleased with the status quo at Podunk High and has designs on shopping Little Johnny Blue Chip QB around....seen that one too.

they would be fools not to jump at the opportunity..... a golden opportunity. the pressure is on. coach is on the phone. stay at your mediocre school up here in Podunk County with your mediocre coach and mediocre team mates, or hit the big time on your way to college....maybe more. the sky's the limit.

    it's my life anyway.
