    UT's future?

    Abbott is gone plus mass defections by talented underclassmen starters. Those defections make one wonder about the climate in Knoxville. Did the Weekly's not recruit well or was the UT experience something different than these talented players thought they signed on to. Certainly $$ isn't the issue as UT has the largest budget in the nation. This season will be very interesting.

    UT will be fine losing Abbott will be a hurdle but with the pitching from Rhodes and Ward they should be fine.With the speed they have now along with the returning players I would not count them out. They should make another run at the SEC championship this year and hopefully will return to OKlahoma City.

    This sort of thing is probably not all that uncommon in the world of college athletics. At some point students come to the realization that their days of playing sports will end sooner or later. As students become older and advance through their education, sometimes that athletic scholarship becomes less important than the pursuit of academics. After all, athletics for most students is temporary while education for a career is for a lifetime. We hate to see 'em go but wish 'em the best in their decision.
