Let's see what the ideal qualities of a baseball mom or wife are. They do so much for the boys (and men). Let's brag on the ones who are helping us do what we love.

Man, what can you say about the moms. The unsung hero of any team, especially the travel teams. They give up their normal lives to follow their boys (and husbands) all over every weekend. They are the chauffeurs, the bankers, the cleaners, the chaperones, and the unwavering fans for a travel team. Just couldn't happen without them.

I guess the best thing I can say about my wife is that she has sacrificed everything she wanted to do so that my son could do what he wanted to every weekend. Our family trips for the last 3 years have been to baseball fields. I just hope she never finds out how much she really sacrificed!!!!($):taz:

I have to give one to my wife. She has supported my son, DD and myself coaching since 1998. Been married now 20 years and she knew nothing about the game. Now the other parents sit around her to get her explanation on everything. She is a true fan of the game. Knows most situations and what to do. Absolutely loves it over everything except her UNC Tarheels basketball. She has even put up with our vacations centering around Cooperstown, Nationals and such. She nevers misses one of our son's games and actually right now still lugs him around to pitching lessons and takes him outside and soft tosses into the cage in our backyard for him. Find many moms like that!!!

not to mention all the time given up so you can go mow the field. when i first started coaching, i heard if our yard looked as good as the field...... now it is, don't you need to mow the field. she has learned and now appreciates all the time that is needed to keep a field nice. a lot of sunday afternoons have been spent mowing fields, alot of time away from families, we are lucky to have found some wives that put up with us:hair2:

My wife didn't know anything about baseball when we got married. Now after ten years of chasing my son to countless tourneys, she knows some of the game and a bunch of the lingo. She loves to shout out "CAN OF CORN" or "PITCHER'S BEST FRIEND" at the appropriate time and then look at me for approval. Questioned me endlessly about the infield fly rule until she finally got it. Now she will recite it to my friends like she has just cured cancer. I get a kick out of her.

Just when you start to forget all that moms do, there are those moments that make you realize we could not do it without them. We were in a small town somewhere playing a weekend tournament. There in the pool area were three or four moms hanging all the uniforms on a fence to dry after being washed. Of course all the dads were busy discussing the earlier ballgames and the guys were playing video games. We took a picture of all the uniforms lined up down the fence and it still makes me stop and wonder why they took the time?? We were the sharpest looking but still finished second in the Tournament! Say it again, Could not do it without them!!

I give my wife and younger son both a lot of credit. I hope we gained a lot over the years playing baseball but we also gave up a lot. Many vacations not taken, having a beach place and never going, time away from each other (which may be the toughest part). It was tough on my wife for her not see some of his successes at a younger age and I missed some of my younger sons events. We'll never get those days back. The good news is there can be a ton of quality time on the road. It's what you make of it.

Working harder than ever to get some trips in before my oldest leaves the house. This week we're going skiing out west for a week, going fly-fishing when we can, even if just for a day. Squeezing in a Jackson Hole summer trip between 2 AAU tourneys and 2 showcases. Doing something besides baseball and football. I'll probably get blasted for this statement on here but the kids will look back one day and realize there is a life beyond baseball and football. In fact, they know this now.
