I believe we played a 1-3-1 95% of the game.

Tough game for the Lady Cougars......I expected they would lose, but not this badly....They are getting better....but when the talent pool is diminished b/c your most talented girls want to play softball and workout in the winter instead of playing Bball, then you wont have much to go with. You have to play the hand you are delt and Coach Setzer will have the girls competitive....maybe not every game but I think they could win 10 games this year....thats a vast improvement over recent years.

Two of the most talented girls on the softball team are still playing basketball, you might want to check with the girls that quit as to why they quit. I know for a fact Coach Sherrill has not told the girls they can't and/or shouldn't play basketball, in fact he just recently complimented one player on how well she was playing. So don't be softball hating, there's enough of that going on at ACHS as it is.

Sorry if it came across i was fishing, I'm just tired of everyone thinking the basketball team is suffering because of softball and that's not the problem at all. They've struggled the last three years and that's two years before Coach S came back. The girls that quit basketball this year were mostly juniors, juniors that as a team have played volleyball, basketball and softball together for years together, some go back 7 years. I believe by next year things will work out...

Not real sure why they would quit.....if anyone has been to a game, I cant see how Coach Setzer is at all a difficult coach to play for.

Basketball in this area is for the most part down....and it has been for several years.....you have a few good teams....(Freedom and Hickory) but as a whole this 4 county region just doesnt have what it use to.

Then things are not as they appear at the games. Talk to some of the parents of the girls that quit, most are pretty vocal about the problems on the team. And consider this...three of Hickory's players are from Alexander Co. I will end this by saying, having knowledge of what goes on and is said to players at practices, games, and in the locker room; I would not encourage any girl at this point to play basketball at ACHS.

You better make sure you know what you are talking about.....because trust me, I know things as well, and I know people at ACHS.

you are totally missing the point.....the more talented girls (overall sports talent) are not playing bball and concentrating on softball.....that doesnt mean they were told to do so, simply that when you your "talent" is doing other things, you will struggle.....even if the were playing it doesnt mean that they would be contending for the conference, but that there is more potential to win.
