is right around the corner. Who are the teams you would consider the favorites to win state titles this year? I know the games still have to be played. I know there will be teams that surprise. Who do you feel will be there in the end and why? Im not talking conference titles. Who are the teams capable of winning the state title in any particular classification.

    Title Contenders

In the 2a, North Lenoir, East Rutherford, these two are always tough. I think the West could be wide open here. In the 4A South Caldwell, North Davidson, Richmond Senior, Ardrey Kell, Providence. Mark this down, Richmond Senior will make a run. I really do not know enough to comment about 3A. The 1A side could be anyone, any team that gets hot at the right time.

well I'm partial to Ragsdale myself. With only one senior on this years loaded team they have a two year window to bring home a title.

Really looking forward to this season.

In the East, the New-6 will be tough(Rocky Mount,Fike,N.Nash)-Nash could finish 3rd and somebody will have to face the lefty in Round 1-TOUGH.
The thing is,with their pitching, any of these could go 3 deep. The cafe Fear has Harnett Central and Triton returning alot.SJ is always tough. In the Triad,W.Alamance and rockingham will battle for # 1.Aycock will be tough as usual and Conley will battle South Central and W.Craven for the Coastal. In the Mid-State,S.Granville will still be team to beat with S.Alamance and Webb trying to play catchup

Southeast Guilford is not only a threat to knock off Ragsdale in the Mid Piedmont 3A but are a serious contender to make it back to the championship.

Cockman, Moyer, Venable and company will make them dangerous once again.

    That is a great conference

    That is one tough conference.

    Ragsdale
    Southeast Guilford
    Randleman
    Eastern Randolph
    Asheboro
    Southwestern Randolp
    Trinity

Three teams that can not only win the conference but could wind up playing for a state title.

    State Run Challengers......

4A: North Davidson and Ardrey Kell and South Caldwell are all legit contenders in my opinion.
3A: Ragsdale, Rocky Mount, Northern Nash and South Granville all stand a great chance.
2A: North Lenoir and East Rutherdford are always tough, but I think maybe this is West Henderson's year.
1A: Cherryville was good last year and didn't lose alot, but Swain returns nine 3rd year starters and I hope this is the year they make a run.

Alot of teams down east that I am not familiar with and as usual I am sure there will be a few surprises.

True, it's a strong conference. There is not a team in that conference that can't beat anybody else on a given day.

Southeast Guilford is state runner-up and returning all their arms and didn't lose much. And Southwest Guilford is very experienced and talented. They lost Slack, Hockaday and maybe someone else but they could be better this year than last year.
