WHOOPS!!!! I apologize for the oversight. Heck we played up there in basketball on tuesday night.

Patton will be good. Coach Scott has a lot of the younger Freedom boys as you said. I know for a fact that they have a heck of a good catcher. Chris Fine played for me this summer. He is great at the plate and improving all the time behind it. He kept telling me he could pitch too, but never saw it...hahahaha.

The Panthers will be a solid bunch as well which will just add to the depth of the conference.

Please pass along my apologies to the Little League parents. :>)

The top three J.V. teams in the NW4AA last year were South Caldwell Reynolds and Watauga. Im not sure of the order they finished so someone else can clarify. However Freedom had a bulk of their J.V. on varsity last year. They are all gone thought except Reggie Washington and Bisquit. And McDowell had 3 underclassmen playing varsity also. Their 3rd baseman and shortstop were freshmen and the second baseman was a sophomore. McDowell ended up fourth I know and shutout South Caldwell's J.V. at Sawmills 3-0 with Poarch pitching. They did lose to Penny in McDowell though 2-0.

Someone clarify who ended up first last year. I know Watauga beat South Caldwell too but the Pioneers lost to Reynolds I think. It was a scramble between those top 3 teams but I know McDowell ended up fourth followed by Alexander, East Burke and Freedom.

    Morganton "Little League Parents" Defense!

I want to make sure that everyone here (that cares) understands there is absolutely NOTHING MEAN, CONTROLING or otherwise about this group of parents. Taking potshots at them is wrong.
If fact, they are, to a family, a great group of parents.
As for being mean, well that is BS. I can only assume they have this reputation as a result of the mid season coaching change at Freedom High school last season.
Were they concerned about the level of commitment at Freedom last season? Absolutely. And they were justified. These kids are much more than a "Little League" flash in the pan. The parents know that and anyone that has been around the situation knows that.
They had seen the amount of quality players go on to Freedom and hit a wall. When this group got there, they recognized the situation very quickly:
    -No off season program
-Hour-and half practices during school hours, i. e. bell rings-practice over.
-All practices were joint Varsity-JV practices
-Practices that were mostly "Greenie board and intersquad"
-No individual instruction to help players develop
    -No Night practices
-No comunication with players or parents
Their appeal was no different than the parent of an academically gifted student not being challenged and developed by an uninspired or underqualified teacher.
I was associated with the "program" (and I use that term loosely) for 4 years and never had the courage to challenge the status quo for fear of reprisal. Thankfully, this group ( the Morganton LL Parents) had the fortitude to voice their concerns.
These are extremely nice people. They are hard working folks that are raisng their kids the right way. The kids are all respectfull, polite and good sports. They are a reflection of their parents not the opposite. The kids have refused to live on their noteriety and have continued to put in the work to pursue their dreams. All the parents pull for all the kids and the focus is on winning as a team. If fact, as baseball groups go, this group has very little, if any, of the whispering, back stabbing and finger pointing that can occur in serious youth sports.
I look forward to seeing these kids and their parents for three more seasons.

Not trying to stir the pot. It appears the original post has been removed but is cited in post #11
I guess I am too sensitive on the subject but I have heard this multiple times. I simply is not true and I had vent.
And they do have high expectations and rightfully so. But those expectations are based in reality are not dillusional as some might suggest.

I've discussed this with the other member and he explained that he was teasing. I assumed he forgot to add a smilie. It was not the way he wanted it to imply. Let's move forward
