Coach Flowers had a mild stroke this morning and is currently at the Pitt County Hospital in Greenville, NC. Not much news right now. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Dang, I played for Fike back in late 80s and have always admired Coach Flowers. Not only is is a great coach, he can also keep one heck of a baseball field. My prayers are with him.

    update

Appears it may not be as bad as originally thought, but can't say for sure at this time. Running tests at Pitt Hospital and should know more very soon. I'm hearing he has full use of arms and legs and a full recovery is expected. Again, will know more shortly. Right about the field, he keeps it up nicely and I think would rather be there working on the field than anywhere else. We all know, don't bother him while he's on that lawnmower!

    1/17/08 Update

Some of Fike's players went to see Coach Flowers at Pitt last night and advised he shook all of their hands (grip is good), smiled profusely, but speech is slurred and difficult as expected. Still running tests and could possibly be released over the weekend. No idea about time frame for full recovery. Also, no definite word on whether it was mild or mini stroke, but for certain something went wrong. Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
