Thats a good twist to this thread

I remember my dad taking me to see the Yankees play the Senators at RFK. I will never forget seeing Mickey Mantle jack a hr and a ground rule double in that game. That was one of my most memorable memories in sports growing up.

    I have to say this.....

Interesting........the coach actually continued to give you more chances year after year after quitting the team for 3 consecutive years?
some of you HS coaches out there, would you do this today?

Took boxing as a phy ed class in college. My first bout was against the tight end on the football team. After 30 seconds of the very first round he was absolutely scared to death. He thought he had killed me.

    THE CATCH

Hey Kevin, Remember *the catch" you made at southern poly tech? that still amazes me, did not even go to your knees or lose your dip. Parents and EMS still talk about it. Just kidding

I was an all-city catcher coming up at every age of youth baseball. Hit Jr High and the bigger field and got benched for an older kid with a better arm. I got pissed and took my game to the tennis courts until my senior year. One of my best friends was playing baseball and remembered that I was pretty good as a youngster. I tried to recreate the magic behind the plate but just couldn't figure it out in the few weeks before the games started. Ended up a fulltime DH. Started out 3-4 in the first game and coach thought he had found the key missiing link. Promptly proceeded to hit my weight the rest of the season, and that wasn't near the 250 I weigh now. Still, good times.
