Davidson had a two way player last year who was not only their ace pitcher, but also one of their top hitters. Jay Jackson at Furman was another example. However, I do agree that these examples are the rare exceptiom and not the rule. Makes you wonder how good they would be if they focused on one or the other.

He has always been very, very underrated...even in high school. But he will be an outstanding attorney at law (Rob Wilson)

Coach, I dont think you lose a year of eligibility if you transfer I just think you have to sit out a year. At least that is the way it works in other sports.

    Someone

can correct me if they want but the way I read the NEW rule is a year of elgibility will be lost if you transfer D-1 to D-1. I do not believe I am wrong on that Dawg.

Having just gone through the transfer process with my son ,this is the most important thing to know, because coachs will play dumb are either don,t know the rules themselves.NCAA Membership services 317-917-6008 will answer any questions you have and are glad to do so.They expressed to me how people make the wrong choices by not calling and listening to coachs and people who don,t know.
I researched the web, talked to coaches and everything leads you to think you can,t transfer after Jan 1 with out sitting. The fact is (NCAA Mem Ser) you can as long as you are enrolled in the new school by Aug 1 2008,after that date is when its to late. The one time exception will be no more.
I feel you need to do extensive research on a program,(coach, asst coaches, school, players, needs of the team,etc...)before a player commits, because now you will pay a price if transfer.I know its hard to beleive but some coachs will deceive you.Educate yourself before the process!

Can someone clarify this? Beginning in 08 - 09, does every D-1 scholarship player receive 25% up to 27 players? Is there a grandfather rule concerning current players, (Frosh, Sophs, Jrs), that they would not receive the 25%?

From what I have read 08-09 is 30 on scholarship max with min 25% and 09-10 is 27 on scholly min 25%. No grandfathering that I have read about.

    That is correct Dawg

09-10 max on baseball money 27 and you have to recieve at least 25% or nothing at all. Rosters limited to 35 which includes redshirts.
