If you had already used up a year with a redshirt, then transferring would cost you a year of eligibility. If not, it wouldn't. More like costing you a year of flexibility.

Here's a question: I have been told in baseball, one's playing eligibility is determined each semester. Those are not the requirements for participation in football and basketball. Is that true? If it is, why the difference between sports?

    DII to DI

Let me ask a stupid question. Do you have to sit out if you transfer from DII to DI? I'm guessing it doesn't happen much, but just wondering.

    JUCO
You must attend two semesters to transfer to a D-1 with an exception from the new school,or graduate with a 2 yr degree without exception.
Why JUCO? Draft eligable year one,Draft eligable year two.Picked up by D1 Jr year draft eligable,Sr year draft eligable. If you don't go by then, you finish school and go to work.Help your sons chase their Dream because one day it will be over.Do your homework on the schools and they want need to transfer.Call NCAA Membership Services for all the answers to these questions.

I think it is a semester deal in football if you think about all the players who are not eligible for bowl games in football because of grades after the first semester.

Those of you interested in knowing more about all aspects of recruiting who haven't discovered the High School Baseball Web need to. Pay particular attention to the "Recruiting" section and the "Recruiting Questions" message board. Some very knowledgeable baseball people from around the country post there on a regular basis.

    Also

in bold is this sentence "players not elgible in the fall will not be elgible to participate in the spring".

I agree with Prepster. If you enjoy talking baseball with people from around the entire country check out the hsbbweb. They have a chat room as well and usually there are a whole lot of folks in there. Several are parents of current ml players and minor league players. Most if not all have kids playing in college or hs.

But remember this site is still the best so dont go over there and not come back! But we could use some more NC people over there.

I agree. It is simply the best HS baseball website in the country and I hope everyone takes some time to visit it.
